[atrb=valign,top] SEVENTEEN MALE KNIGHT GAMMA HETEROSEXUAL KNIGHTS OF ARCEUS | [atrb=valign,top][atrb=style, border-left:1px solid #515151;] PERSONALITY INTELLIGENT, he may look young and oftentimes act young, but declan possesses intelligence considered above and beyond the average for individuals of his age. he knows this, and thus tries to utilize this skill of his to its fullest potential. his stratagems, codes, and maneuvers are most complicated and hard to decipher. most stereotypically, declan is also phenomenal at the game of chess - and plays with himself to develop strategies. PERCEPTIVE, almost to a mind-numbing extent. declan is an individual whose eye captures much in a single glance. the slightest nervous tick, the movement of fingers, a fidget of annoyance, and the sudden sharp intake of breath - he sees more than he would usually like to see, but utilizes the skill accordingly to shape his sentences and actions. ANALYTICAL, quickly and most efficiently, declan's mind runs on countless thoughts a second, and his logical, systematic way of thinking has gotten him out of trouble many times. while he is efficient when face to face with danger, declan would much rather sit back and cause trouble from a distance as opposed to dirtying his own hands. he formulation of plans and formations make him a rather eccentric individual. PRAGMATIC, declan would much rather make things happen then wait for them to happen. he is very focused with being the cause and witnessing the effect. sometimes, he would even go to drastic measures to get desired results, such as causing mass collateral damage and even injuries to achieve a certain effect. FLEXIBLE, he is not limited to one plan. declan likes to plan ten to a hundred steps ahead at every turn. he always has an escape plan, a fast, logical, and efficient way of dealing with contingencies and errors that may pop up in daily activity. he will not allow himself to be anchored down to a single plan, but rather floats amidst a hundred different plans designed to make his thinking more fluent and less full of surprises. LEVEL HEADED, it is insanely difficult to faze declan, or even cause a scratch on his icy emotionless shell. he is infinitely hard to anger, shock, surprise, or scare. quite simply, he believes that there will always be a logical answer to everything, and thus does not waste time fretting over stupid things such as misfortunes and idiotic errors. WITTY, seldom will you find declan lacking a better argument or phrase to snap back at the insult thrown at him. he will always have a comeback, a short, sharp comment that hits right at home with the correct amount of mean-spirited humor and cutting tone to shut a person up for good. declan is not a talker, and oftentimes finds it easy to end a conversation with a single witty comment. ORGANIZED, he is neat to a fault, compulsively wanting nothing but absolute organization in the scheme of things. he finds it highly unsettling when messiness meets his eyes, and will seek to correct it in the calmest way possible. when his plans are rarely but unfortunately ruined, it will be one of the few things that make declan genuinely enraged or upset. PERSUASIVE, he has no silver tongue or overwhelming charisma to start a cult, but declan has enough persuasion to talk others into believing him. he has a way with words that both comforts and convinces individuals simultaneously, and declan uses this skill whenever he realizes that profit is to be gained in a situation. RESOURCEFUL, always a way out. declan is efficient and resourceful when he wants to be. when he puts his mind to it, his jobs do tend to end quickly. unfortunately, this only applies to personal goals. and rest assured that declan is nothing but lazy and unmotivated when it comes to jobs assigned by others. ALOOF, declan is an individual with very little emotion to give away. not because he keeps everything bottled up inside, but because he lacks these qualities in the first place. he will rarely express or even feel happiness and sadness - only amusement or lack thereof. he is an enigma truly difficult to decipher, and impassion defines his life very snugly. SHARP-TONGUED, declan will not hesitate to bluntly insult others with his vast arsenal of rapier wit and cutting insults. any idea he deems stupid will be immediately cut down, any appearance not suited to his tastes will face the wrath of his ego-shredding insults. declan is not one to hold back what he thinks, and though he thinks before he speaks, one can't really tell the difference because declan's mind is as foul as his mouth can possibly be. DECEITFUL, he will fool and fool you again, skillfully. his youthful looks and look of disability make feigning as a young, disabled teenager easy for declan. he will use his appearance, ability to pretend convincingly, and skill with lying to cheat his way in and out of everything. he also has a knack of laughing at his victims afterwards. CUNNING, like a fox. declan's plans are almost never fair and just. those two words don't appear on his dictionary at all. he will achieve his plans through any means necessary - stealing, cheating, declan will stoop to any depths to get what he wants. unfortunately for others, he is also quite skilled at doing this. MANIPULATIVE, he'll make you dance like puppets in a show, like little wind-up toy soldiers marching brainlessly into a fireplace. worse yet, you won't suspect a thing. declan is always one to cover his tracks, and his manipulation stretches to more places than people can imagine. IMMORAL, the world is a chess board for declan. he likes to treat everyone as if they were a toymaker's creation stuck in a toy box, ready to be taken out, played with, and then thrown away when they have expended their worth. he directs this form of immorality to the pokémon of other trainers as well, but seldom to his own companions. DISLOYAL, actually, it's hard to tell exactly which side declan is allied with. he goes where his amusement takes him. he is flaky, but only just intelligent enough to make him an asset to the side he aligns himself with. still, his allegiance lies with himself, and declan can and will backstab when he can. SELF-PRESERVING, to heck with helping others, declan's main concern is to look out for number one. he puts himself and his own needs before the needs of others, and no amount of persuasion will keep him from believing this. GLUTTONOUS, how much can declan eat? well, a lot. he is gluttonous in many aspects - perhaps greedy is a better word to describe him. his stomach is like an endless void and his lust for personal riches is almost just as bottomless. LIKES, neatness, chess, strategy, the quiet, hamburgers DISLIKES, fighting, authority, the unexpected, onions HISTORY Declan's dehumanization, his pessimism, numbness to humanity, and overall grayscale view of life stems from his experience as a younger human being. He was born to a very loving family - beautiful mother and witty father. Both were working class, very well-off and very happy to have an only child. Declan started off normal, a bouncing little ball of energy hopping off to school every morning to continue his pokémon studies. Declan was an artistic student, boyishly cute and as open as any young innocent child could be. He was never bullied, never treated poorly, never exposed to the cruelties of this world. He lived blissfully through the early stages of his life completely unaware of the things going on around him - which was precisely why his accident even happened. Two years before his coming of age to become a trainer, Declan came across a most spectacular pokémon battle like the many he had been witness to before. it was supposedly a friendly match between two rangers - 'training' as they called it. Declan watched in awe as the two battled one another with skills he was never exposed to in trainer school. Wanting to get a closer look, Declan stumbled on closer to the match - intoxicated, excited, amused at the movement, the elegance and ferocity of the creatures and their trainers. Then, just as a jet of acid was released from a ranger's Gloom, Declan found himself stumbling too quickly, falling forward and catching the stream of corrosive substance to the side of his face. He was not permanently scarred, but the accident had left his right eye in such a discolored and deformed state that he had to have bandages or an eyepatch around it at all times. The rangers received no charge, the incident having been deemed as what it is - an accident caused by misadventure. Declan spent weeks in a hospital bed recuperating, the side of his face burnt and his right eye no longer matching his left. He was accompanied by worried parents, sitting by his bed day and night, comforting him and watching over him. They tried to assure Declan had a safe and changeless return to regular life upon discharge - but is it ever so easy? Declan returned to school, his friends, his teachers - his same routine. It was only then did he begin comparing his own life to the bland, whitewashed life in a hospital bed. Similarities in abundance, boredom in troves as days passed. Declan never heard from the rangers responsible for his injuries, never had another similar accident. Strangely enough, instead of thanking the deities above for letting him keep his sight and his life, Declan began to regret surviving. He was bored, bored out of his mind. The world became black and white for him, and the little ounce of amusement he gained at random times only acted as temporary anesthesia to his condition. With his pessimism came his cynicism and dispassion. Declan became absorbed in personal interests or rather finding his personal interests. He graduated from trainer school feeling as though most of his life had been a hole - and to fix it, he was going to start doing whatever he wanted. He started small - petty acts of thievery and little amounts of pickpocketing to gain the little money he would then spend on candies and other personal delicacies. He got bolder, more audacious, planning heists with less strategically talented minds, battling for the money, cheating for the thrill of it - he still had no purpose, but at least what he did felt amusing. To this day Declan remains a two-sided individual, black and white. He acts on amusement, fueled by curiosity. His induction into the Knights of Arceus changed none of that - and even now those on his side can't be entirely sure of Declan is truly loyal or not.
