Alexis walked through the streets, luckily unbothered by those around him. Otherwise it might have been quite hard to explain that he didn't talk and wasn't ignoring them. Luckily he wasn't deaf, that might have been even more difficult. The thought send a bitter smile to his lips, twisting his features briefly. It would have been something. Or what if he had been born blind? That was just as difficult, but at least people understood when you walked around with sunglasses and a cane, if they understood it wasn't just a fashion statement. Those thoughts kept swirling inside the pale-haired youth's head, oddly comforting in their familiarity.
The Snivy riding on his shoulder looked around, sometimes speaking his name which always managed to catch the Trainer's attention. He smiled each and every time toward the grass snake who only looked away in turn. The Pokemon was vain at times, but he wouldn't trade him for anything. He was the first Pokemon he had chosen and although Litwick joined the team not too soon after. He wondered for a moment how the two Pokemon had gotten here, they weren't exactly native to this Region. He pondered upon the question, losing sight of the outside world. It was luck more than anything else that he didn't walk in anything.

Since moving into the city, not really being able to go off on adventures, Jo had developed a routine of relatively no routine, short of the obvious. Today, her routine had led her to take a walk through Goldenrod. And why not? It was a nice day.
Which sort of made her feel bad for the city slightly to the north. Then she was just generally upset, which made her feel even worse, since the people of Ecruteak had more reason to be upset than she ever did. Never getting a badge is so much easier than losing all of your possessions, she reasoned, and just thinking about the alternative was depressing. Hell, even her current situation was kind of depressing. Now she was just sad.
She realized all at once her steps had gotten slower, so now she was just crawling along and sad. She was glad she hadn't spaced off like this in the middle of a crowd.
With a sigh, she finally came to a stop on the sidewalk. She couldn't keep going like this, without anything to keep her mind off of those troubling things she had no answer for. For a moment, she paused to run through a list of things she could do, but nothing came to mind. Her pink-coated lips pursed a little as a sign of her frustration, and her hands found their way to her hips; in doing so, her fingers brushed over the balls at her belt, and suddenly, she knew just what to do. The pokéball was smooth to the touch as she took it in her hand. It never ceased to amaze her how they expanded with a simple push of the button, nor how they held and released their held pokémon so flawlessly. As the little phanpy appeared in the street before her, she wondered what it was like inside. Hopefully it wasn't too cramped, or something.
Regina trumpeted off, bouncing around on her feet. She didn't seem too bothered by the space inside of the ball, whatever it happened to be like. She smiled down at the blue creature, stooping down to its level. It trotted over to her happily, waving its trunk around as what she guessed to be a greeting. The ground pokémon had been out for scarcely a minute or two, and suddenly her former concerns and feelings of guilt had vanished.
"Hello, Reg," she said softly. "Wanna take a walk with me?"
Regina ran around a little bit and started sprinting off in her excitement. "Hey now, don't go too far!" she called after her with a bit of a giggle, standing back up and doing her best to keep up. The phanpy had already run around the corner, though. She was always a bit of rascal, though certainly not as bad as Grohl. He was the tough one to keep up with; at least Reg was slower, and at least she was stuck to the ground. Hopefully she wouldn't trip anybody.
It was her turn to round the corner, now. She glanced around the street before she found her "runaway" pokémon, who was in the process of playfully rearing up in front of a stranger. "Oh, I'm sorry! Reg, what did I tell you about bothering people?" Her light admonishes probably fell on deaf ears as she made her way over, though the sound of her flats against the road managed to get the bold little phanpy's attention. It turned to look up at her, offering only the equivalent of a meager smile and the flick of her stubby trunk.

Another nice day in the city. It was strange how people could go about their normal lives in times like these. With all these storms, people should be more frantic. But, on the other hand, what could be done? These simple people living alongside Pokemon could really do nothing to stop these storms. All these thoughts ran through Draco's mind as he sat atop a tall building, watching the people in the streets below.
This was a relatively calm block, however. Few people were in the streets. There was an attractive looking woman walking slowly down one street by herself. There was a man with a Snivy on his shoulder standing on another street. A Snivy? That was an odd Pokemon to see in this region. The man must've come from Unova, Draco thought. It was then that a Phanpy came bounding up behind the man, followed by the first woman he had been looking at.
Losing control of an energetic young Pokemon. Draco had almost forgotten what that was like. Zero, Blade, and the rest of his team were older now, hardened by years of fighting alongside Draco on countless raids on criminal bases. The scene had caught Draco's eye, and he was content to watch it play out for the moment.

Alexis stared at the window, staring at the objects behind the smooth surface with a curious gaze. He wondered for a moment if he had the money to buy something, before deciding that he better safe it for something more important. He even stubbornly ignored his own reflection and especially the stump where his left arm would've been. The notebooks for example, or even food, mainly the food. Also clothes here and there. He wasn't planning to walk around years upon years in the same clothes, or even a week. The thought was slightly disturbing and that's why he usually sold things that he didn't need and sometimes managed to win a Trainer battle. Miracles, in his eyes, really.
He hadn't expected the Pokemon in front of him and slowed to a quick stop. His eyes slightly wider than usually, what he did expect though where the leaves that whipped past him and tried to cut the Phanpy with a ferocity that would have surprised him if he wasn't used to it. Nonetheless when he noticed it wasn't a wild one and that it just tried to be friendly, he shot the Snivy a stern look and adjusted his body, asking the Pokemon silently if it was okay. Although he doubted that it would understand him. It took a while for most to pick up on it, even his own two Pokemon sometimes still had trouble understanding him.
What he presumed was the Trainer, approached him not moments after and he smiled faintly and shrugged his shoulders, before taking the notebook and quickly writing in it to answer her questions. It was only polite that he did so. He already knew of the questions that most likely would arise in the woman's head and the smile changed into a brief grimace and then deciding to ignore it as well. He didn't want to think about it 'It's okay.'
It read, when he finally showed it to her patiently. His eyes blinking very faintly as if daring her to say anything about his continued silence 'There is no harm done.'
For a moment, he didn't move, before deciding that taking a step or two away from the Phanpy wouldn't hurt anyone. He pulled the notebook back and started writing on it anew 'It looks cute. :)' The smiley on the paper was echoed faintly on his face. He then pulled it back once more to write anew and then offered it once more 'Does it have a name?' He continued. The Snivy on his shoulder finally seemed to relax, just like the Litwick hovering nearby.[/div]
Out of her sight for the moment, the assaulted little phanpy had been quite startled by the flurry of leaves. There were only one or two cuts on its tough blue skin, but otherwise it seemed fine, if a little surprised. It must have been fine, though, if it went back to what it had been doing just a moment before as though nothing had happened, and it continued until its trainer came up.
Said trainer, now done with reprimanding her silly little pokémon, turned her attentions to the stranger, offering him an apologetic smile. She was pleased to see him return the gesture with a less apologetic "tone" to it, or whatever one might call the spectrum of smiles one could offer. She was no wordsmith, and so the half-second thought was quickly done away with. When he pulled out a notebook and some writing utensil she didn't quite register, it served only to further put away her concern for mentally using the wrong word to describe a facial expression. Now she tilted her head a little, almost but not quite trying to see what he was writing.
It's okay, it read.
For a moment, she looked from the paper and to the stranger. A part of her was mildly confused, but for the rest of her, things were faintly clicking to provide her an answer as to why he was writing instead of talking, though it would be a minute or two before it fully occurred to her. In the meantime, she decided that it was probably best to just roll with it--and thus avoid awkward questions.
"Oh," she started, "well that's good!" She hoped her smile wasn't too awkward while she was mentally scrambling to accommodate his silence, and perhaps to understand it, too.
He started writing again. It looks cute, he showed to her when he was done, with a cute little smiley face at the end of it. Again, her eyes went from the paper and to his face, and a similar expression was there. So she returned it, now officially past most of the awkwardness. "Thanks! She's just a bit excitable." He pulled the paper back again and wrote something else. Does it have a name? She looked down to her rambunctious phanpy before giving an affirmative nod. "Mhm! Her name's Regina."
Was she supposed to ask questions, too? Awkwardawkwardawkward. She looked to the strange pokémon sitting on his shoulder. It looked faintly familiar, like she'd seen it on TV at some point in time. "What about yours?" she offered as a piece to continue the conversation with.
And suddenly, it clicked. Mute! He was probably mute and holy shit what was that? There was another pokémon floating around behind him. Something was distinctly off about it, just like something had been distinctly off about the Pokémon Tower, and to a lesser extent the Saffron City gym. Ghost pokémon? Her posture became a little less relaxed. She couldn't take her eyes off of it for probably a little bit too long. Shit she was being rude. She snapped her gaze back to the mute trainer, doing her very best to ignore the presence of the ghostly thing hovering around entirely too close to her, even if it was still on the other side of this stranger. Was it his? No, no, don't think about it. Look at him. Look at his sketch pad he's probably writing something look look look.
Once more, she sincerely hoped that she wasn't looking as utterly stupid as she felt right at that moment.

Alright, so the female trainer was a bit slow. Draco realized a few minutes before the woman that the man had to be mute, so those minutes watching her struggle so obviously with what was right in front of her was rather painful. Draco shook his head slowly with a faint sigh of exhasperation. She had to be native, too, as she had a look of confusion on her face as she looked at the Snivy and Litwick that were with the man.
Draco smiled lightly as he watched the two. It was impossible to tell what the mute man was writing to the woman from atop the building, but Draco could tell he was writing something, and that was all he really needed to tell that the man was mute in the first place. He reached into his jacket with his left hand and pulled out a black Pokèball, which he immediately pressed the button of to release Zero, his Lucario.
Zero appeared in a dim flash of blue standing up on the ledge of the roof, looking down at Draco with an expectant look in his eyes. "Just have a seat and watch, Zero. I'm sure this will be good entertainment." Draco said softly, so as not to disturb the pair of trainers below. Zero wasted no time sitting down next to his trainer, and watched the two, no doubt looking at their auras. He gave Draco a thumbs up without looking away from the scene.
There was one thing bothering Draco about the mute man, though. His left arm wasn't all there. That being the case, how was he writing? From this vantage point, it was hard to see everything, but he didn't want to move from his position in the event that they saw him and thought he was just a creeper. That would be bad, Draco thought. He was supposed to be a protector, but here he was, spying on trainers. Spying, or just watching. There was a subtle difference, and to the untrained eye, the line was blurred. Oh, the complexities of life...

He knew that she wondered about it, recognized the pause for what it was and he grimaced for a moment, making sure that she didn't look toward him. He only hoped that she wouldn't start asking questions about it, instead she seemed to ignore it and went with the flow and that momentarily startled him, but he was also extremely glad for it. The unconscious tension that had formed in his muscles faded and let his shoulders slump ever so lightly. He shrugged his shoulders when she spoke, before nodding his head. It was indeed okay and he would've laughed out loud if he could. She tried so hard that it was too obvious.
Alexis was tempted to write something about it for a moment, but then decided against it and instead let her read what he had written on the notebook, waiting patiently. It was slightly awkward trying to write with one hand and having no flat surface, but he managed after a lot of training in his hometown. They had been patient over there as he slowly managed to get around, adjusting to the fact that he most likely never would speak anymore and that he couldn't do anything as quickly as those who had still both hands.
The youth's shoulders shook with silent laughter and he wrote something quickly in reply 'I've noticed.' He also knew the gender of the Phanpy, he didn't want to call her something that she wasn't. That would have been a little awkward and then she replied another question that he had asked and he smiled again 'It is a beautiful for her.' He wrote quickly, before showing the notebook yet again. It looked silly, he knew, but this was the only way to converse with anyone, he could talk with signs with one hand, but not everyone knew what he meant with those and the notebook had been the cheapest solution.
She finally asked him a question in turn and he smiled again, before writing on the notebook yet again, although soon his eyebrows knitted together in brief annoyance. It seemed all so slow to him and he wished that he could speak out loud, that the conversation wouldn't be able to drop into awkwardness so quickly 'The one on my shoulder is Snivy.' A small drawing of the small grass snake and then he looked around, frowning when he spotted his Litwick and her apparent discomfort with him 'That's Thanatos.' He continued, a small drawing of the Pokemon now and then he continued 'Does he make you uncomfortable?' He wrote.
A slight pause, before he scribbled underneath it 'I can put him back in his Pokeball?' He then showed her what he had been writing. His lower lip caught between his teeth as he rocked back and forth, barely rocking the notebook with him.
