[location: Viridian forest. Time: early morning. open too: everyone and anyone.]
Jacob tilted his head to the left, continuing to force it in that direction until the oh-so-satisfying crack of his neck was audible. strange. he didn't quite remember there being THIS many wild Pokemon running around Viridian forest. well he had never spent loads of time in between the old trees, usually he just rushed through as fast as possible so that he didn't have to waste time scaring the caterpie population half to death by constantly pulling giant flaming wolf shaped replies to every time they felt brave. Jacob always let them flee, there was no reason to hurt them. they were weak to the point that he had no benefit of his team beating on them. So he didn't bother causing them pain. Jake tilted his large red hat back on his head and looked up at what of the sky he could see past the tops of the trees. the sky looked red through his tinted sunglasses, but he could still make out the deep heavy clouds. Sighing, Jacob shoved his white gloved hands into the pockets of his long red coat and felt comfort in the feel of his hands brushing against the pokeballs his friends were resting in. "And it was starting to look like such a nice day." He calmly gripped in his native tongue of Transylvanian, not actually minding the rain, it was peaceful and watching it always relaxed Jacobs mind. Whistling tunelessly, Jacob wondered over to an old tree and climbed his way up to sit on one of the more firm branches that was a good four feet off the ground. As long as no Beedrill decided to smack him back down to the ground, because all beedrill were jerks like that, the young man had found himself a peaceful spot to watch the forest and reflect on life. Maybe later he would let Reaper out to enjoy the forest. But right now the lack of companions was nice.
ven in the middle of the forest, she could tell it was going to rain. Hadn't it just rained not a few days ago? It felt like it had rained so recently. How was it going to rain again?
She was barely walking, so preoccupied were her thoughts with the impending rain. It befuddled her. Wasn't it just a few days ago that it last rained? Longer? Her eyes wildly traced the lines of the clouds that she could make out through the trees. She wasn't sure what she was looking for, really. A black sky, maybe. Black and malevolent and all-consuming. As much as that wasn't there, she couldn't get the image out of her head, and so she just kept looking for it.
Suddenly, the first drop hit her smack in the middle of her forehead. She blinked, as though awaking from some trance. There was another that hit her shoulder. Slowly, she looked over, dimly acknowledging the small, wet dot it had left on her green sleeve.
This was nothing like the driving rain she saw before she ran down the stairs where her house used to be. It did not go sideways, and it did not drop down on anything in its way like bullets. It was just a little droplet of rain, harmlessly landing on her clothes. She looked up again. The sky was cloudy, but the clouds were not menacing in nature--not really. There was a softness to them that the striking shades of black on those towering clouds she saw that day had been totally lacking. Another drop, this time hitting her chest that had been left unguarded when she turned her chin slightly skyward.
"It won't be like that storm,", she silently told herself. "It won't be like that storm". Over and over, she repeated that in her head, with an intermittent "you have somewhere to be." She started moving again, pushing herself back along the somewhat overgrown pathway that had been cut through the woods. Slowly, "it won't be like that storm" was phased out for "you have somewhere to be." That felt good to say. She had somewhere to be, for once, some sense of purpose and direction that did not keep her stuck at home.
So she just kept walking toward that somewhere she had to be, even if she wasn't exactly sure where that somewhere would take her.

Jacob grinned to himself in contentment of the moment. this was peaceful, and exactly what he needed. Reaching into the pocket of his coat, Jacob pulled out a box of cigarettes and placed one in his mouth, lightly biting don on the end to stop him self from dropping it. He returned the box to his coat and started to reach for his lighter when there was a loud crack. "Crack?" Jacob asked himself, momentarily confused. then his eyes widened in alarm "Oh." Jacob managed weakly, before the branch he was on snapped, sending him flying towards the ground. Jake yelled in a strangled tone before slamming into the ground on his back. pain ran through him like a storm and he had to resist the urge to start making as much noise as possible to make himself feel better. Something he had only held back from because Jacob had landed in front of, (and was now looking up at) a surprisingly pretty girl. she was probably a bit younger then him and didn't exactly seem happy or relaxed. Well this day may have got somewhat more interesting. "Hey there." Jacob said, still lying on the ground, he calmly lit his cigarette and sucked as much of the smoke into his lungs as he could. Jacob looked to his left and noticed his hat was laying in the mud next to him, scowling the trainer unsteadily got to his feet, brushing mud and a bit of twig from the rim and placing it back on his head where it was immediately swept off and held over his heart as Jacob bowed low to the woman, an amused smile on his face. "May not be my best landing to date. But i am pleased to meet you, mica Printesa." he greeted, smirking at calling her 'little Princess' in Romanian. for no other reason then he thought it was funny and seemed to fit her. besides, it was quite amusing to see people react to not knowing what he had called them. Jacob straightened up with a small hiss of pain, the fall was going to leave pretty nasty bruises at the very least, and replaced his hat. The way he acted seemed to suggest that he felt no embarrassment or annoyance about falling from the tree, instead everything about the way he spoke and stood made him seem completely at ease and confident, as if they were talking at a party held in a mansion not in a insect filled forest. he held out a gloved hand to her, offering a hand shake. "Where are my manners? Do forgive me Miss, my name is Jacob Faith. A pleasure."
s she made her way along the path that looked much less like a path and more like an oddly straight clearing in the trees (if not in the tall grass or bushes), there was suddenly a rather loud sound: a great crack shot through the forest, the sound of it reverberating through the trees. Having just calmed herself down, this caught the little breeder off-guard. Her body jolted, and she came to a stand-still.
Quite unceremoniously, there was suddenly a man laying flat on his back in front of her. There was a branch not but a few feet away from him.
She might not have been good at math outside of finances, but she liked to think that she was good enough with logical math. In this case, she added up the crack, the broken branch and the flat-laying man in front of her. From that, she guessed he'd been sitting in the broken branch before it had broken. That was simple enough. How strange it was that he had fallen so squarely in front of her, though. She was glad he hadn't fallen on her. That probably would have hurt.
He was the first to speak. She was glad for that, too, as she certainly had no idea of what to say otherwise. "Oh, hello," she replied, still more than a little bewildered. "Are...are you okay?" She cast a curious glance upward, looking for a broken spot in the trees, but wherever it was, it was obscured by the leaves and branches of trees that were still very much intact.
Evidently, he hadn't fallen too terribly far, for he was able to light a cigarette and stand up. She couldn't imagine that she would be able to do the same in a similar circumstance. Indeed, she would have preferred to simply lie on the ground until the pain subsisted. But not him, it seemed, for he was more concerned with his dirtied hat than pain. As soon as he'd restored it to his head, he swiped it straight off and put it over his chest as he lowered himself into a bow. She couldn't help but tilt her head somewhat at the old-fashioned gesture. Nor could she entirely help the slight blush that dashed across her face.
"I should hope that you don't make many landings of this nature," she commented with a slight laugh in spite of herself. She had no idea what he had just called her, though she was inclined to believe it was not entirely impolite.
When he outstretched his hand, she gently took it and gave it a light shake. "Certainly. I wouldn't expect the first thing to come of your mouth after falling from a tree to be an introduction." She offered him her own amused smiled. "Pleased to meet you, Jacob. I'm Nora Strauss."

Jacob rolled his shoulders as a test, and finding that while there was pain, none of it seemed to suggest he had broken or sprained anything. Which was somewhat of a relief, "thank you for your concern, but i am fairly certain i am fine. however If at any point i kneel over? then that means i lied to you in an effort to ignore it." Jacob added, smirking at his own slightly odd sense of humor. "but that's unlikely. i would like to think myself at least mostly honest." Jacob couldn't help laughing along with the woman at her next words. "Oh not as much as i used too. my younger self seemed determined to fall from every tree that he could get himself into." which was actually true, Jacob had loved climbing tree's to the point no amount of falls were ever going to deter him from it. He didn't do it as often now, because it usually ended the same way this attempt had. and there were only a certain amount of times something could go wrong before pattern recognition sets in. Jacob noted the blush and for a moment, he considered kissing her hand when she took his to shake it. but no, to do so simply because he would find it funny to mess with her would be beyond rude. And it probably wouldn't be that funny anyway. Instead he politely shook her hand with a smile before reaching up and taking hold off his cigarette long enough that he could tilt his face away from her and blow out a long stream of smoke into the air. He watched it for a moment before returning his gaze to the woman, and the cigarette to his mouth. "Nora. a pleasure." He said pleased, He glanced at the sky and frowned. "I do believe that this is going to be little more then a brief shower." Jacob assessed, tilting his sunglasses to judge the sky as clearly as possible. "perhaps we should stand under a tree instead of here?" he suggested with an amused tilt of his head
