Normally, Hugh would have assumed it was against Cheren's 'careful-planner' nature to set something up with hardly any input from the person he was setting it up for. Apparently, if something needed to happen on short-notice though, the 'carefulness' with which Cheren usually catered to got set aside. It was only two days ago that the Gym Leader had contacted him to say there was somebody in Unova who wanted to Crush the Knights just as badly as Hugh himself. Although it wasn't something surprising, the teen hadn't avoided feeling a jolt of such with Cheren's news. There was finally somebody else? Somebody confident enough in themselves to take a stand? That was incredible, as far as Hugh was concerned, so with guarded eagerness he'd asked Cheren for more information.
Two days later, Hugh now sat at a beachside cafe in Undella Town around noon - prime lunchtime hours, and something that would be beneficial to not only his stomach and whomever else's, but also to muffle their conversation...just in case there were any straining ears around. The sound of the waves next to him (as outdoor seating was the only thing available in this prime vacation spot) were interrupted as ruffling feathers followed by a quiet squawk sounded close to his ear. Admittedly the large Braviary looked awkward perched on the metal railing just behind his trainer, but after the flight from Aspertia to Undella, Hugh knew Zephyr needed to cool his wings rather than simply withdrawing into a pokeball.
Closing his eyes and reaching behind him, the trainer ruffled the Flying-type's feathers. "I know. I'm getting impatient, too." Although the assigned meeting time had barely passed. "Keep an eye out, yeah?" The pokemon made a small sound in return, and Hugh crossed his arms against his chest, face sinking behind the funnel-collar of his jacket as he waited.

Black blinked rapidly for a few moments. Hexagons filled his vision as the last of his usual dreams disappeared down Musha's gullet. The trainer patted his Pokémon's side and he detached from the young man's head. Black retuned Musha to his Pokéball and began to walk down the street. Cheren had called Black a few days before. The Gym Leader said that someone just as hellbent on taking down the Knights as Black was in Unova. That was refreshing. Someone who didn't want to curl up and let the Knights win. Black had agreed to meet with him, but Cheren had warned him that things between them might get heated and recommended that Black blank his mind before the meeting. That's where Black found himself now, walking down to the street in Undella Town to meet with someone on the beach.
Black reached the beach and looked around. It didn't really help him assess the situation as the hexagons were blocking his vision. He managed to see the café he was supposed to meet the person at. The trainer could at least be reassured that the person was smart. The noise of the area could drown out their own conversation from any prying ears. He walked over to the café and flicked his eyes over the patrons. They were all with someone, save one, who was with a Pokémon. A young man, around the same age as himself, sat next to it. Blue spikey hair, large collar, red eyes, and sulking. Black rolled his eyes as he realized who it was. He'd never met this guy in person, but during his isolation, Black had kept tabs on what was happening in Unova. He learned of three trainers who fought back the resurgence of Team Plasma. One of them fit this guy pretty well and he had learned from Busnca and Cheren he was a bit of a hothead. Fantastic.
The trainer sighed inwardly and walked over to the young man. Black stood over him, not making a move to shake his hand or anything. "Cheren tell you to be here?" Black asked curtly. "My name's Black. Cheren told me you weren't too fond of the Knights and that it'd be best if we meet." Black planned to keep a level head during their discussion, but something about this guy made him edgy. He could feel the rage almost radiate from the guy. The trainer took a deep breath before continuing, "I've heard a lot about you, Hugh."

Hugh opened his eyes when Zephyr gave a tug at the hair on the side of his trainer's head. As requested, the pokemon had kept his eye out for somebody approaching, or at least lingering their gaze on Hugh longer than the average passerby. Crimson irises shifted over the crowd until he saw whom his pokemon had taken note of. It wasn't hard, honestly, seeing as Hugh himself was being stared at. And, he recognized the person instantly.
One of his senior Dex Holders - and one of this region, too - Black.
Paying attention to the news papers and television broadcasts alike when Team Plasma reared their ugly heads for the first time since they stole Kalula's Purrloin and took a member of his family away from them forever. There was no way in hell he'd forget anything he heard or saw about that disgusting organization, and people related in some way.
The trainer stared unblinkingly at Black over his collar as he approached. He straightened as his senior neared. Although Hugh trusted Cheren's judgement on anything, that didn't prevent his own personal assessment. "I don't think I'd be in Undella right now if he hadn't."
It was a short response. Partially because it was all he felt necessarily, and partially because it was true - his temper had been worse than usual ever since Mei had been kidnapped...the anger management he'd practiced was starting to take a back-seat. Hugh blinked before talking again. "The Knights need to be crushed. I know as much about you as I've read or seen on television." It wasn't necessarily what he'd call 'a lot' by his own standards, but he still knew his share.
"What exactly have you heard?"
Perhaps a good place to start would be exchanging previous impressions and those being made just now. To work with anybody, you needed to know at least a bit about them. Hyu kicked the chair opposite him out for Black to sit.
