"I am very glad that I remembered to use it. There are times I completely forget the strength of the ghost type. Destiny Bond was always an interesting move, and I have only recently learned to use it correctly. It was.. interesting to see it working in action." Platinum breathed out gently, a small smile on her lips. She was pleased, glad to be battling a friend and being able to make warm conversation as she did so. It was always better, facing off against someone you cared about. They would give you constructive help, they wouldn't cat-call and be horrid the way some trainers could.
She had always preferred to battle her friends and it had been a long time since she had had the opportunity. The hail began to die off within the next few moments, it's creator fainted and the turns run out. Rapidash was almost bouncing with the urge to fight, watching Tauhiko's own stomping. With a toss of it's fiery mane, Platinum gave a quick look it's way, then at Pearl. "Rapidash, use bounce!" She exclaimed, watching the fire-type narrowly miss the oncoming storm of hooves that was the Tauros.
Straight up into the air he went, hooves aimed for the Pokemon below on it's descent. He was fast, he had always been the fastest Pokemon on her team and versus Tauhiko, she knew it would be an interesting match of speed, that was for sure.
"It's pretty good you remembered then. I can't say it was good for me, but..." He trailed off with a shrug. It wasn't that he cared a ton about winning or losing, though the winning part definitely was nice, but it was refreshing to battle with Platinum. It reminded him of when he used to train with her and Dia back when they challenged the Gyms or rather when Platinum did. "Ghost types are pretty strong. However, Normal types can fair against most any types too." Pearl was mostly speaking for his Tauros, even though it was the most recent member of his team beyond Dighiko. He hadn't caught many Pokemon, if any at all, since his ordeal with Team Galactic. He'd thought about it, but he decided he wanted to learn a strategy with this team before trying to catch more. Plus he'd grown attached to his Pokemon, and the thought of them being replaced saddened him some.
The blonde shook his head at the thought and returned to focusing on the battle. Just as he had snapped back into battle, Platinum had announced her Rapidash's next move. Tauhiko's head had glowed a slight light purple for the Zen Headbutt attack, but once the Fire Horse was in the air the purple lifted. The Bull Pokemon continued running even once Rapidash had leaped in the air, turning around in a full circle while still galloping on its hooves. Without having to worry about the Hail damage, he was safe from anymore field damage. The Tauros had slowed some in order to catch a glimpse of where the fire type would land, though that caused him to be hit by the oncoming hooves of the foe Pokemon. He snorted in some pain, letting out a loud bellow before moving himself away from the Rapidash.
"Alright, Tauhiko, let's show them your Payback attack!" Pearl called once his Tauros was nearby. The Pokemon stamped it's hooves into the ground below before darting towards the Rapidash again, horns lowered as it ran. It seemed to be a bit clumsy because of the previous damage taken to it, but it was still running at high speeds.

Whatever Platinum had been expecting, Payback had definitely not been the move. It shocked her visibly when the Tauros' horns collided rather viciously with the side of her trusted horse Pokemon. Rapidash whinnied loudly in pain, giving the heiress pause to think of a better strategy than the outright attack she had planned previously. How could she win this round of their battle when her precious Rapidash had taken so much damage already.
Platinum was feeling rather flustered and it was illustrated plainly on her face. But really, she would have to hope for the best with her next attack. "Flamethrower," she stated bluntly, her face reverting to it's more stoic and collected mannerism.
The Rapidash however was riled up. Its feet scraped the ground to find a sturdy, determined stance and the flames in his mane and tail flared red and orange exploding outwards in a furious blaze before it opened its mouth and burst a furious beam of flames, smoke spilling out from around it. He was not in the mood to lose now, especially knowing the frustration in his Mistress.
"Please be all right," She mumbled under her breath, the Pokemon feeling her desperation and attempting to hit the other hooved creature with the burst of flames.
The Tauros' attack landed cleanly into the other Pokemon. Once he had hit, the Pokemon seemed to back off from the horse-like Pokemon though it snorted in some sort of victory. From what Pearl could tell, it seemed like his Payback attack had caught Platinum off guard, which would give Pearl a slight advantage. The Pokemon whipped its three tails around as its foe recovered, snorting with eagerness to continue the battle. Pearl had paused himself to think of something else they could do, beyond blindly attacking with Payback. Unfortunately most of Tauhiko's moves were physical and caused him to get up close to the other Pokemon. He knew Rapidash did have Bounce, which would stall for time and especially help with dodging any physical attacks.
Platinum ended out calling her attack first. Flamethrower wouldn't be easy to avoid, but it did put distance between Tauhiko and Rapidash. Tauhiko snorted again as the Rapdiash literally burst into flames. With a stream of fire bursting from its mouth, the Tauros moved to the side to escape the oncoming flames. However since it had hesitated momentarily it's hind hooves were caught by the oncoming flames. He bellowed in pain before moving to the side.
"Are you okay, Tauhiko?!" Pearl asked his Pokemon, who returned with a simple snort in response, "Try getting close for a Horn Attack! Dodge those flames if you can!" The Pokemon bellowed again before running back towards the Fire Horse's side, though his running speed had definitely slowed from the fire attack hitting his hind hooves.

It was a battle to the finish, each Pokemon taking hit after hit from the other. Both looked worse for wear, as it were, and the Rapidash himself was tossing his head in aggravation, wanting the whole battle to be over so that he could rest and celebrate with his mistress. "No!" She yelped as the horn attack went flying towards the horse Pokemon. "Rapidash! Are you all right?" The heiress' voice cracked, watching the flaming unicorn buckle a little at the knees.
He was holding on just barely, by the looks of it, and Platinum didn't really know what else she could do in order to get any closer. Her pokemon was going to faint soon, and if she didn't think fast, it would be another issue entirely. "Stop, Rapidash! Quickly, rest!" She announced, almost at the same time the firehorse knew her exact instincts and let itself drift off. Despite the risk of the oncoming attack, he breathed out as his health recovered, the injuries fading away.
"Please wake up quickly, Rapidash. Please." She muttered, knowing that it was a risky move, but her Rapidash needed to recover more of its health before it battled any more. It was the only way she could forsee the Rapidash winning, and that in itself was a risky move at the best of times.
Platinum's eyes raised up to look at her friend, and she gave him a small smile. He had improved more than she had anticipated. More indeed.
Each Pokemon was definitely starting to slow down now. They'd both taken a deal of damage by now, but Pearl was keen on ending it in his favor. Tauhiko let off a little once his attack had landed on the horse Pokemon, though his breathing was heavy. The bull Pokemon was starting to feel the effects of Rapidash's flamethrower attack. Tauhiko's eagerness to continue the battle showed, but he was starting to feel fatigued. Pearl was sitting on what he should do now, but before he could react Platinum had already called out her next move. The Rapidash fell into a slumber, though its health was recovering now. A good move, Pearl thought to himself. Just when he wanted to end things quickly.
Tauhiko was in bad shape, now even worse than Rapidash, but it still seemed like it could go on for now. With Rapidash asleep, they could get in a few hits probably before it woke up. They'd have to be quick about it though.
"Tauhiko, Payback while Rapidash is asleep! Be careful though!" Pearl snapped his fingers once he had decided on his next move. While battling with Platinum was fun, he found himself growing impatient for a win. She was a tough opponent though, so he'd need to be careful when that Rapidash woke up. Tauhiko bellowed in a reply to its trainer, charging its Payback attack before stomping towards the Rapidash with its head lowered. His run was slower since his wounds from Rapidash's attacks were starting to take effect, but he still charged on.

Platinum had been expecting the oncoming flurry of attacks from the Tauros once she allowed her Rapidash to sleep. She knew it was risky at the best of times to put your Pokemon to sleep and she crossed her fingers as she waited patiently, watching the Payback attack knock the sleeping Pokemon backwards. A simple look could tell that she had now put her Pokemon at risk, and she was certain that Rapidash couldn't take much more. He didn't appear to be waking, and the flaming horse was now on his side, open to other attacks.
If Pearl was impatient for a win, this was definitely going to be an opportunity for one. Both their Pokemon were weak, and Platinum had made a gamble by letting her Rapidash attempt to Rest off some of the worst of the moves, but that was all right, she told herself. He still had more health than the struggling Tauros. What could she do, really? She was in a pinch. She just had to hope that slight twitch on Rapidash's foot was enough of an indication that it would wake up after Tauros' next attack.. If he even managed to survive it.
Tauhiko's Payback attack landed squarely on the other Pokemon. The other Pokemon rolled back, though it was still under the effects of sleep. His attack had seemed to make some sort of damage on the other Pokemon. The Tauros stepped back with a snort, standing as best it could. If they were lucky, they could get in another hit before the Rapidash woke up and made a counter attack. Pearl couldn't tell if the Pokemon could withstand another attack or to play it safe and call it off for now. His face grew serious in thought as he debated what to do. He had said he wanted to see how much Platinum had improved, and it was a definite that she had in the time they'd been apart. Taking it easy on her wouldn't be very fair then, he supposed.
"Alright, Tauhiko, one more Payback!" Pearl spoke towards his Pokemon. It was all-or-nothing now; even against Platinum. The Tauros gave a low bellow, though this time the Pokemon didn't charge right away. He waited a few heartbeats before finally running after the Rapidash he had just knocked into, lowering his horns. By the time the Pokemon had idled he could've woke up to dodge the move, but they would have to see.

Unfortunately for Platinum the Rapidash did not recover in time for the payback to miss, but only in time to feel the full force of the attack. Both Pokemon were slowed despite their normal above-average speeds and she watched and attempted to decide on what was definitely going to be the Rapidash's last move. He had lasted longer than Froslass against Pearl which in itself was a feat, but he only had one move left in him.
"Fire blast." She said it so plainly that only those who knew her well would be able to hear the slight crack in her voice. It was all or nothing from there on out, it was everything they had in order to try to succeed and the odds were not in their favour. Tauros hadn't been sleeping, but from their speed standpoit, they were both high in stats. It could work out, or it could fail.
With a burst of flame from it's mouth and it's mane flaring, Rapidash spewed forth the five-pronged attack of the fire blast, hoping to hit the poor Tauros before it hit him.
His Tauros had definitely made a clean hit, but Pearl was sure that it wouldn't hold out any longer. The Pokemon was stumbling slightly and it was on its last legs now. The Bull Pokemon snorted as the Rapidash got to its own hooves. Pearl could feel the tension between both trainers, each eager to win with their own Pokemon. Pearl could tell that Tauros probably wouldn't be able to take the next hit. Unlike Platinum's Rapidash, Tauhiko only had mostly Physcial moves to do damage. It really was all or nothing.
Before Pearl could even mumble out a move, Platinum had taken charge herself. He'd been so caught on thinking of his next move he'd missed his chance. The Rapidash's Fire Blast attack hit Tauhiko squarely, since the bull Pokemon was suffering from most of the damage it had taken. The Pokemon groaned in pain before landing hard into the ground.
"Ah, Tauhiko, return!" Pearl quickly called back the Tauros, returning it with a flash of red to its Pokeball. Platinum sure had improved in the time he'd been away. It was a long battle between the two equally strong Pokemon, but in the end he lost. He was a little sad about it, but it was against one of his friends and against Platinum after all.
"I can tell you've improved a lot now, but I'm not gonna give up just there!" Pearl called out to his friend with a smile. This would be his last Pokemon, but he was sure that he could at least win this round. He tossed out his Pokeball which revealed his long time Pokemon, Perahiko. The Chatot fluttered down onto the ground below, lightly flapping his wings out as if he were stretching.
Post by PLATINUM BERLITZ-SILPH on Jan 30, 2014 20:40:09 GMT 9.5
Platinum's round success was enough to put a smile on her face, considering that seconds prior she hadn't even been sure that Rapidash's attack would see the light of day, let alone actually hit the poor bull Pokemon. His proximity had been in her favour and when Pearl withdrew him, Platinum's face faltered. She watched her Pokemon whinny and paw at the ground, eager despite his injuries to take on this new opponent.
"Rapidash, try a flamethrower!" Platinum spoke gently, though her doubts of success were starting to seep into her. The chatot had an aerial advantage, after all. The flames shot outward, though Rapidash's speed was down, and he attempted to shoot the copycat bird with his powers.
"I will not give up either, Pearl. I will fight this last round until it is done." She gave her friend a heartfelt smile. Despite the fact that they were battling, she rarely felt any closer to him. She hadn't been this riled up about a battle since she'd taken the gym challenges. He was close to her in such a moment, she understood him.
Pearl had always been the other battler of their trio and had always managed to entrust her into doing her best to come out on top. As bad as she felt for having brutally attacked the bull Pokemon whom had helped her in the past, the thrill of a small victory was definitely showing on her face. It was one round, but it still meant the world to her to be succeeding against him, showing that his training had helped.
Pearl found himself unable to be really disappointed with losing the round. Sure it sucked, but it was only for fun between Platinum and himself. Her smile made his own frown disappear back into a smile once he sent out his faithful Chatot, though her smile had left her face as quickly as it appeared. He didn't want to lose this round, especially since Rapidash was weakened now. He'd have to get in a quick hit before the Pokemon tried to use rest again. His Chatot fluttered his wings again in charm to Rapidash's pawing at the ground. It squawked once Platinum called out the order, taking to the skies with a quick flap of its wings.
"Good to hear. I wouldn't expect any less of you!" Pearl smiled to his friend when she spoke, "Alright, Perahiko, try to dodge that flame and go for an Aerial Ace attack!" Platinum had been the one that had done the most battling in the group. Pearl was second, with Dia coming in last, but he hadn't challenged the Gyms like she did. He had learned most of his battle from his Father in the past, but Platinum had taught him so much too when they did training sessions together. If it wasn't for Platinum or Dia, he probably wouldn't have gotten as strong as he was now. Perahiko flapped his wings and gave a call out to his trainer before flying towards Rapidash.
Since his Chatot was at full health and full to the brim with energy, the Pokemon easily used its speed to dodge the oncoming Flamethrower attack. Since Rapidash was probably hurting from Tauhiko's previous attacks, even though it had healed, Perahiko took a dive straight for the Fire Horse Pokemon. It launched out its talons to slash at the horse Pokemon.

Platinum was having fun. It was the only way to describe the battle in one word. She looked up with bright silvery-gold eyes and despite everything, she knew that she could only have this much fun with one of her closest friends. She half-squeaked as the Chatot made impact on her already struggling Rapidash and he fell to one knee before his trainer nodded and pulled out his Pokeball. "Great job, Rapidash. Return."
She pondered her options and wrinkled her nose. She had used Froslass and Rapidash. She could choose a type advantage but she wasn't certain she wanted to go with that option, instead she pulled another Pokeball from her bag and sent out her Lopunny, whose ears wriggled with her delight. "Lopunny, use Charm!" Wiggling in delight, the rabbit Pokemon began to work her magic, starting the process of lowering Perahiko's attack.
To Platinum, the idea of lowering the attack capabilities of the bird Pokemon meant moves would be less lethal. Perahiko had been in Pearl's team for a long time, after all, and she needed to make certain that Lopunny was protected.
As Pearl expected, the Rapidash was too badly injured to keep going for very long against Perahiko, who hadn't taken any damage yet. Now the match was even, each trainer having one Pokemon left. Pearl almost didn't notice her squeak when the Rapidash fell, blinking back at his friend. Hopefully Rapidash hadn't been injured too badly, after all he hadn't exactly gone easy on Platinum. Eventually the horse Pokemon was returned to its ball and Lopunny took its place. Ah, he remembered this Pokemon. Lopunny had been a fairly faithful member of Platinum's team, though Pearl hadn't much experience with the Pokemon itself. There was a Buneary that one time... he shook his head at the thought. If he remembered that Pokemon's sucker punch his face would start to hurt.
Nonetheless, he trusted Perahiko to win this battle. It was his most faithful Pokemon, albeit being a tad annoying at times, and he was sure he could win against Platinum this round. Lopunny's charm attack wasn't escaped by Perahiko, the bird Pokemon fluttering from the effects of the attack. With Perahiko's attack lowered, that would make it harder for him to land solid hits this time. Smart, but Platinum had always been known for being smart. Knowledge was her gift after all. Pearl grinned at the challenge now, already trying to formulate a plan. Lopunny had big ears, right? Well, some sound based attacks should do it.
"Chatter!" Pearl retaliated against the Charm attack, Perahiko flapping his wings hard. The Pokemon got close to Lopunny, sending out a stream of unintelligible chattering noises towards the Pokemon.
Post by PLATINUM BERLITZ-SILPH on Feb 6, 2014 20:23:35 GMT 9.5
Chatter was the signature move of the bird Pokemon, and it instantly sent Lopunny looking around. It flinched in pain from the strange attack that still managed to cause damage, but Platinum was not about to give up so fast. Lopunny still had plenty of fight in her despite the damage. Her large ears were sensitive, but they could withstand a few attacks directly on them. She jumped back up into her reaction as Platinum began calling her next instructions.
"Smart move, using the sound to affect her ears. However, she is not beaten yet. Lopunny, return." The Pokemon leapt into action, diving forward to attack the Chatot. She was attempting to chase the fast little bird, but the rabbit too had speed. That was part of the reason she had chosen to use her rather than the Pachirisu she had been gifted. It was also due to the fact that the Lopunny was of her own capture. It was Chatot and Lopunny, both captured by their trainers of their own merits.
"You can do it, Lopunny! Use your speed as best you can!"
Pearl smiled, taking Platinum's comment as a compliment of sorts. The Chatot was a Pokemon that specialized in sound type attacks, especially with Chatter being its signature move. The Lopunny was damaged by the Chatot's attack, but of course that wouldn't be enough to knock it out right away. The Lopunny was stronger than that, and so was Perahiko. The Chatot fluttered in the air, flapping its wings as it watched carefully from the skies.
"Thanks. Perahiko won't be beat either! Use Mirror Move!" Pearl called to his bird Pokemon. Perahiko was fast, but so was Lopunny. With the mirror move attack, it also caused the Flying-type to use it's move last. The bird Pokemon tried to avoid the bunny Pokemon as best he could, but eventually the return managed to land a hit. He faltered in the air, but managed to regain itself though it had taken quite a bit of damage from the return attack since Lopunny's love for its trainer certainly showed.
Perahiko's mirror move kicked in, a light glow coming over the Pokemon. It flapped one of its wings over its chest, and the Return attack was copied with ease. A large gust of air pretending to be the Return attack launched itself at Lopunny, hopefully hitting the Pokemon squarely with its own attack.
Post by PLATINUM BERLITZ-SILPH on Feb 15, 2014 9:33:11 GMT 9.5
The replica of Lopunny's return was powerful and the fact that the bird himself loved his trainer meant that Lopunny was already in danger from the attack. She leapt to try and get out of the way but too late, taking the force of the hit and being forced backwards, bracing herself to stand back up. To Platinum it was interesting to watch Perahiko use such a move. Copycat moves were so rare for people to have and every Pokemon performed them differently. "Use Dizzy Punch, Lopunny!" It was getting down to the wire now, she and Pearl were head to head and whoever won this round would be the victor.
She could sense Lopunny's eagerness but Perahiko had been with Pearl for longer. The responding Return had been quite damaging and she knew the battle would not last much longer, but also knew they had to put up a fight. Platinum let herself smile fondly at her friend, half an eye on the Lopunny as she began trying to circle Perahiko and give him a punch that might also confuse.
Luckily Perahiko's attack had landed right on Platinum's Lopunny. It definitely looked like it hurt, especially since the Rabbit Pokemon managed to slide backwards from the attack. Pearl found himself smiling at that, since that meant his Pokemon surely cared for him enough that he landed such a blow on Lopunny. He felt a bit guilty for feeling that way, but he was proud of his Pokemon. The two trainers both knew that this battle was coming to a close, especially since both Pokemon were starting to wear down.
"Perahiko, use Echoed Voice!" The trainer called. They'd hit the rabbit Pokemon with more sound based moves, but that wouldn't really save him much from the Dizzy Punch attack. Perahiko made small circles in the air once his attack had landed. Lopunny was still a fast Pokemon, even if Perahiko had the advantage of flight. The Chatot flew in close, only to get smacked square in the chest with the punch attack. The Normal Flying type somersaulted into the air before finally righting itself, though it looked weakened now. The Pokemon gave out a semi-weakened cawing noise for its Echoed Voice attack, but it wouldn't do too much damage since the Pokemon was thrown off balance slightly.
"Hang in there, Perahiko!" The blond called to his Pokemon, biting his lip.
Post by PLATINUM BERLITZ-SILPH on Feb 26, 2014 0:03:50 GMT 9.5
It was going to be a tough one, Platinum knew that. The second that the bird Pokemon used Echoed Voice however, she knew her Lopunny was done. Despite not getting the strongest hit it had ever taken, the Pokemon was weak against noise attacks, her sensitive ears the biggest issue. Platinum pulled out her Pokeball as the bunny fell to her knees, chirping in exhaustion. It was close, and that was certainly the most intense match Platinum had been a part of for a very long time.
"Congratulations, Pearl." Platinum said as she tucked the pokeball away into her bag and moving over to her friend. "I do not think I have had such an intense battle for quite some time. Thank you." She brushed her hair out of her face, softening her expression as the ghost of a smile perked up on her lips. Even having lost and her competitiveness showing through, she was glad for her friend.
Perahiko managed to land the blow, and down Platinum's Lopunny went. Pearl almost couldn't believe it at first. He guessed his trainer really had paid off. He wasn't sure he was going to win, after all Platinum had earned eight badges so easily, and it surprised him. He blinked in disbelief a little, staring as Platinum returned her Pokemon. Perahiko flapped tiredly, but chirped slightly in pleasure at the win.
"We... really won?" Pearl found himself unable to hold in the grin he had, letting his Chatot land on his shoulder with a chirp.
"We won, we won!" The bird Pokemon copied, though Pearl simply gave the Pokemon a light scratch underneath his beak.
"Thanks Perahiko, you did great!" Pearl smiled before returning his Pokemon back into it's ball. He focused his attention on his friend, sheepishly rubbing at the back of his neck at her congratulations.
"Thanks... to be honest I wasn't so sure I was going to win. You're pretty good yourself, and your Pokemon are too! You've definitely improved since we last had a battle like that." He cheerfully spoke towards his friend. Hopefully she didn't feel too bad about losing, if she did he couldn't tell very well. Her thanks only made him laugh.
"Hey, just consider it long overdue exercise. Dia's due for some too once I see him again."
Post by PLATINUM BERLITZ-SILPH on Mar 21, 2014 23:12:32 GMT 9.5
Though she was pleased by Pearl's win, she was disappointed in her own loss, and Platinum mentally thanked each of her Pokemon in turn. She had been close to winning, that was for certain, but Pearl had been training whilst she had been dealing with Fernando and Steven and the chaos that had overtaken their world. She chuckled somewhat blankly, but did force a proper smile onto her lips.
"I hope that Diamond too is reminded what it feels like to lose." She chuckled, "Or perhaps if he has been training, that you too might." Running her fingers through the ends of her hair, Platinum nodded. "I need the practice. If I cannot win against my own friends, then I must train harder to defeat my enemies. It is late though, Pearl. Are you absolutely determined to head home at this late hour? My apartment is not far from here, if you would like to stay the night and finish your travels in the morning. We are quite close to a Pokemon Center also."
