What exactly was she looking at?
The obvious and most prominent answer would be ruins. Ruins as far as the eye could see. The remains of a supposed natural disaster that had swallowed the land whole and spit it out as garbage, a shadow of its former self. vegetation was not the most common in areas such as this, but with things as devistated as they were at that moment, any growth beyond a few tiny blades of new grass or maybe a tree that had been spared would be quite the nice change of pace. Less in your face about the particular scenery was the moon's pale light cascading over the remains of a once great place. However, the silver lighting, though successfully illuminating the area and banishing some fears of the dark, almost made the scene all the more eerie, long shadows cast from tiny hills and even more subtle crevices in the dirt, rock, and remaining debri. All in all, it was a disaster. But that was what anyone living under a rock would assume of the place. Of course, for anyone else who kept up with the times, they would know a more specific way to describe the rubble.
"Looks like it's home, sweet home, Apple," grunted a lone female, sitting casually in the night-time glow and observing the stillness before her as if it were the most interesting thing in the world. It really wasn't. But it was a nice way tokill time, none the less. For those whom it may concern, "home, sweet home" could be translated to many a place. However, this particular location translated to Blackthorn City. More specifically, the small stretch of land between said city and the Ice Path. Even more specifically, what was left of said small stretch. Really, with all the desolation everywhere, it was like everything that was hit by Mother Nature's wrath was just one big stretch. Everything equalling the entirety of the region. To say the very least, things weren't looking too happy here in the young womans supposed "home".
Frieda hadn't been planning on visiting the shattered pieces of her childhood memories. It was basically like the universe had ripped the first half of her life story book, crumpled each page individually, took a poo on them, then proceeded to throw them back in her face. Yeah, that wsan't exactly her idea of a very fun "vacation". Things were already bad enough, what with slipping out of the Knights of Arceus' insane grip without a word and having to watch her back for any possible members that would want to make her pay or something equally frivolous. However, as of late, she hadn't really been making the best decisions. New gym leader postion open? Try out! Find out it's in a city surrounded by the only thing that can make you burst into tears and forces you to indulge in said water works every time you catch sight of it? Oh, shucks. Guess you should have thought of that earlier. And leaving the Knights was an equally bad decision. They were going to chop off her head and mound it on Aphrodite's wall or something should they ever manage to find her and defeat her.
So, instead of thinking about how stupid she was, the soon-to-be gym leader decided to humor herself by visiting what was left of her home, where she played as a child, and what ultimately ruined her life. Maybe she'd be especially cruel to herself and visit the Ice Path later. But not at that particular moment. The frigid air was enough to have her on edge; she'd wait until she got used to it or just let herself go numb so the cold wouldn't be a problem anymore.
"Enjoy it while it's here, buddy, 'cause there ain't no way in the Distortion World we're comin' back here again. Not if I can help it."
