He slammed the door behind him, leaning back against the door. Finally, he could spend some time alone. Ever since he had been forced to join the knights, Green had had like 0% time to himself and what was worse, he had almost no time to be around for his gym matches. The Pokemon League were not going to be happy with him if this kept up. He was really going to have to talk to some of the higher ups...if they wanted to force him to be in the Knights, that would be fine, but he had to fulfill his duties.
This was exhausting.
He was glad though that none of his friends had found him out quite yet. He had been so busy, he hadn't even run into Red yet and that was extremely surprising. Red almost always found him no matter where he went. Green set down his bags next to the back room and stretched a bit. It was nice being back in his gym. He had missed it and was ready for him to be back in this place for good. It wasn't exactly what he had planned out to be his dream job, but he had really begun to enjoy challenging trainers so that they can get the last badge before heading out to the Elite Four. He was their last challenge for the challenge of their life, and that alone excited him. Having to ignore it to be part of the Knight's dogs, was starting to eat at him. What would his friends say? Did he make the right choice by doing this?

Please tell me he's here, Blue whined as she stomped along miserably, the echoing sound of her feet seeming to be the only thing within a mile. Viridian was in shambles; wires were torn down, houses were practically crumbling, and all that was really completely in tact, surprisingly, was the Gym. Blue was worried. So worried, in fact, that she came to Green of all people. Green.
Red was nowhere to be seen, which wasn't unusual, but with all of the ruckus, Blue was naturally scared for him. She wasn't at first, not really, as he Red, but then all of these things transpired, and on the other side, the heroes were short of an Elite Four, Blaine, that Gym Leader Flannery, and Emerald, who she owed her livelihood to. And as much as it pained her to admit it, she was scared for her friend. Blue scoffed -- she sounded like a pansy-ass girlfriend, and she was neither of those things. Red had never been anything but a friend to her -- same with Green. She'd hoped that he would casually come along, or that the door would be open and he would call her in. Why did she do this again? He wasn't going to be there. If anything, he was probably out looking for her. Or Red. Besides, who the hell was going to challenge the gym in such a bleak time? She sure wasn't.
Yet here she was, standing in front of Green's gym. If she could find Green, she could find Red. Green knew Red better than she did, after all. The woman curled her fingers into a fist, pounding on the door. "Green! Open up!" she pleaded, her alto voice sounding into the ghost town that surrounded her.
It was just at the time that he really sat down, that the knock at the door and the voice came to his ears. Oh great...now what was he going to do? He recognized the voice. It was Blue. He wasn't ready for anyone to see him like this...he was different now than he had been before. Now he was a Knight. Unworthy of friendship from any of the dex holders that used to be his friends.
Nonetheless, he stood up and walked towards the door slowly. Maybe he could turn her away easily without giving anything away. The problem was, Red and Blue knew him so well they would realize something was going on just by looking at his face and he wasn't ready for that. He took a deep breath as he reached the door and put on his normal voice, trying to sound as cool and collected as possible. Without opening the door, he spoke.
"What do you want?" Cold, sure, but he was always like that. Carefully pushing others away, even more so now that he was seemingly against them. A foot on both sides of the scale...A disgrace. He was lucky though, Red would have demanded that the door be opened, nay, he would break it down himself to get to him. He only hoped that Blue had some sense to not be quite as reckless as their counterpart.
What had seemed like a lost cause suddenly turned into a miracle as a voice emanated from the other side of the door. Blue was given a brief moment of happiness -- just hearing the sound of Green's voice was pure relief to her -- she just wasn't expecting this. Was he trying to throw her out on her ass? Blue rolled her eyes at his usual need to be difficult, especially with her, but she wasn't about to leave. The world was on the brink of destruction and this was no time for petty games.
"Shut the hell up and open the door, Green." she cooed, crossing her arms impatiently and shifting her weight. As she continued to stare at the metal slab in front of her, Blue waited for her companion to let her in. Why it was becoming such a task? That she didn't know. Nonetheless, she waited. "I'll stand here all night."
"By the way, you not letting me in is worrisome. I just thought you might want to know that."
He took a deep breath and slowly opened the door knowing that she would indeed stand out there all night. He was already doing all of the knights work under cover...the least he could do was let one of his friends out of the cold. Better to not let her die, right? He did his best to avoid eye contact with her. Being Blue, she probably wouldn't notice that something was up anyway. She was more concerned with herself more than she was what he was feeling at the moment anyway. She wasn't like Red or Crystal, she would probably pass right over him and not even notice the way he looked. Ashamed.
"I'm sorry I haven't been around. I've been busy. I don't really have a lot of time. Is there something you wanted?"
She didn't need to be around long. If the knights caught him with the other dex holders he would for sure be ordered to attack or something to that extent. He didn't want to do anything that directly influenced his friends and while he had spoken to one of the higher ups and got him to agree to that condition, he wasn't all that sure that it would apply for very long. Things needed to be done after all.
What to do about her was going to be an issue though.
"Finally." she muttered, taking a step in, looking more at the indoor scenery than at her dear friend -- he knew she loved him, there wasn't a need for constant reminders. The air was still chilly as the Dex Holder rubbed her arms in a bleak attempt to warm them. She sighed, glad to see the familiar gym still in its glory as Green talked on.
She turned to face him, her own visage blank and expressionless. "Whatever," the girl quickly brushed off his explanations and excuses, not really listening as her eyes moving up to his hair. "is your hair different?" she took a few steps forward, eying it intensely. Wait, she was here for a reason.
"Where's Red been?" Straight to the point she went. Surely Green of all people would be aware of his best friend's absence, right? It was more understandable for Blue, the third wheel of Kanto, not to know, but Red owed Green the truth, at least. The frosty outdoor air still had her shivering, and she found herself rubbing her arms once again. Her eyes realigned with Green's. She snorted. "I haven't heard from him in months. I'm getting a little worried." That was something she'd never admit again.
