The days were getting longer, what with everything feeling more and more like it was a battle. Every spare second was used hoping for peace, praying that there would be no more attacks or deaths on that day. Mei herself prayed hard in every moment of every day to every legendary pokemon she could think of for all these horrid events to stop.
Unfortunately, they had yet to do so.
Even Mei's bubbly and optimistic personality had begun to feel the effects of constantly sad and decrepid towns, ruined by storms and general destruction. The "natural" disasters had such a negative effect on what was happening, she could hardly believe it. And she certainly didn't want to.
Months previous, Mei had found herself captive of the Knights, who at the time had yet to make themselves and their identities known tot he public. Her meddling, trying to find out what had been happening, had caused them to grab her and keep her hostage. She had been subjected to torture verbally, mentally and physically until her friend had come through and saved her.
Mei was entirely thankful that Hugh had figured out her location - even if she had been stuck there a while. She may have been held but they had not succeeded in breaking her, no matter how hard they had tired.
She was free, something she had never bothered to appreciate before. Air moving around her face, body being able to do what it was supposed to. She had, not so long ago, been almost bedridden. Malnourished and bruised - with some broken ribs and fingers to boot - now that she could walk and run and dance she was taking full advantage of the feeling.
But it also gave her pause to just enjoy a pure, sunny day. Feet swung lazily over the edge of the half-mended wall she was perched on, enjoying the little sights of people rebuilding going on around her. Aspertia was, for the most part, starting to piece itself back together as a city.
Twin tails fluttered in the soft northerly breeze, strands scattering over her face. The brunette barely even noticed however, she was much more focused on the passers by and the patchwork city.
The rooves of the damaged houses had been replaced and the worst of the flooding was gone. Aspertia was beginning to look like her home again, a place to live and be happy. Certainly it was a little less uniform than it had once been, but she couldn't complain. It was in thanks to both the residents of the sleepy city and the help of the Unovan league - helped by Cheren, now that the town had a well-established gym of its own and a spot in the official leage. It really had been a hard few months.
Mei was just happy that she could enjoy the views and not worry about disaster falling - if just for a few hours.

For those who had not been neck deep in the grasp of the knights, however, it was quite a scary world. One could barely dial up a radio or turn on a television, without hearing stories of freak weather reports, the devastation of Lavaridge, and of course, the fall of several trainers caught up in these events. With these events comes emotion, and with these emotions become strong opinions.
If one were to truly look back at the state of the world, especially in the less damaged cities, the feeling would be almost surreal: opinions were formed behind coffee tables and powerful political agendas were stirred up in full force, all by people who could barely comprehend what it was like to actually be in such a situation. But who could really blame them, to want to figure out the organization who seemed to practically have the entire world in their hands? Who would be next?
And how would the world find a way to stop them?
These questions, and several more, would be burning in most people's minds. To some, these stories would be the fuel that would spark action, in any way that they could help. It was this latter reason that Alice, who was in all other respects just passing through the city, decided to pitch in for a few hours to help.
Well, that, and the Rhydon that was supposed to collapse a more-damaged building managed to bang up its leg pretty hard. Just a block over from where Mei was taking a leisurely break, was a nicely-yellow-taped off piece of property ready to be raised.
"Garnet!"
Amidst a crew of people ready to clear away the inevitable wreckage, a bright red flash came forth, the Fossil Pokemon 'Bastiodon' appearing out of its midst. With a sheen from its shield, it looked forward, then back towards Alice.
"Take it down."
With an agreeable 'snort', the steel monster turned around, and with a careful stomp of the foot, the foundation of the building before it began to sway. A creak, followed by a large noise of crushed drywall, quickly sent wood dust and white-smoke up several feet. With the side of its body, the shield Pokemon blocked the dust from blowing back into the crowd.
"O-one stomp?" A worker, not exactly one who watched many battles, looked on in a bit of awe as the rest of the workers rushed forward to pick up the pieces. With a hand on his shoulder, Alice gave a chuckle:
"Yeah, being several tons can do that." Signalling Garnet over, the Bastiodon trekked over to Alice's side, the trainer giving a smile: "Now, if you want to stay out of your ball, we're going to have to get a bit away from town. Come on, now..."
Aye, that whole thing at the beginning seems a good introduction to the character, despite having little to do with the post. xD I'll try to be more focused later on.

An almighty crash was enough to pull Mei out of her daze - albeit somewhat suddenly, since she was completely entranced with the serenity of the moment. As the building came tumbling down, aquamarine eyes locked themselves on the crashing building. She watched it fall and felt her heart sink a little with it. Even in the peace there was destruction - those things that could not be rebuilt or fixed.
The debris and dust made her cough slightly, and the girl had to fight back the smallest of winces as her previous injury made that motion itself twinge. She looked up to see the trainer controlling the pokemon, however, and nodded in her general direction as she hopped off the wall (somewhat more energetically than she had been seconds previous) and skipped her way over to Alice.
"You don't see very many Bastiodon around the place, male or female?" Mei asked. Though when it came to many simple things she could be quite dumb, Pokemon was something the young dex holder new fairly well. "It's hard watching buildings you've known all your life come down like that, it was a shock to feel that tremor and then watch it fall. My Pokemon and I have been helping a little, but none of us are quite so adept at demolition."
Talkative as ever, Mei chatted away before she even considered introducing herself. One of her less "favourable" traits was her incurable need to constantly be making sound. Perhaps because she liked the sound of her own voice, but more because she hated silences. "I'm Mei by the way. Thanks for helping out around here, we're well on our way to recovery but there's always something Aspertia needs."
Well, that was an interesting way for someone to introduce themselves! Just a block or two off of the destruction site, the pair attracted a bystander. Curious, Garnet tilted its head, stopping in its tracks as it observed Mei: "Guroo?"
"Um..." Putting a smile on her face, Alice quickly felt herself put on the spot. This 'kid' looked to be an energetic, talkative ball of energy, already speaking to her as if she knew Alice as a friend! "Well, Garnet's male, and I guess seeing a Sinnoh fossil out here is a bit rare-"
Ah, she was caught up in the conversation again! Patiently, Alice let the girl's conversation run its course. Her tone seemed pleasant, almost overly-familiar, as she jumped from losing childhood memories to the shock of the explosion, to even a bit about her own Pokemon. And this was in the first few moments of meeting her! At least at the very end of her rather energetic monologue, Alice managed to get a name.
"Oh, don't thank me too much, Mei; I'm just passing through the neighborhood. And the name's Alice." At least's Mei's attitude was infectious! "And, well, I guess we may have overdone it a little bit." Alice glanced over her shoulder, seeing the dust still trying to settle. "Its a bit sad, sure, but won't rebuilding there bring new memories for the next generation?" Leaving that thought in the air, Alice gave a hand-signal, Garnet obediently sitting on the spot.
"I take it you're from around here, then?" Leaning back against a wall, Alice took another look over the city: "This place seems to be holding up well, considering. You say you have Pokemon? Are you a trainer?"

Mei looked up at Garnet then over at Alice and the now wrecked building. Perhaps it might have overdone it a little but she wasn't particularly worried. The building had to come down as it was, so now there was just no extra work for the injured Rhydon. That wasn't a bad thing. "Alice, like the Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. They're great stories, I really liked them." She giggled softly, bouncing up and down on the top of her toes.
"It's a really pretty name though, mine is kind of boring in comparison." She wiggled her toes in her shoes as she looked up at Alice and smiled. Twin tails flicked behind her shoulders s she watched the people begin to move the debris away from the collapsed house. "Yeah, we'll like it I'm sure. But it doesn't stop it hurting for the people who lost stuff."
Mei nodded at Alice, "I've grown up here since I was little, though I was born in Castelia. The people of Aspertia always band together in times of trouble, it's always worked." When asked about her training, she had to grin. "Oh yeah, I've been training for a really long time though. I've defeated the Unova league before so I'm home for a while, I've just been training since, really. After I beat the Elite Four there wasn't much to do. I might like to be a gym ledader if anyone wants to retire at some point."
Giggling, she shrugged, "What about you, are you a trainer.. Oh wait, I'm not interrupting you doing something am I? I'm so sorry your Pokemon just kind of distracted me cause I wasn't used to seeing it around, I'm so sorry!"

Well, Mei wasn't shy at all! In a matter of moments, this young trainer spoke to the older woman as if they had known each-other for years, like they were old friends meeting for the first time in a long while. It was equally uplifting and a bit unsettling to hear all of the girl's thoughts be poured out in front of her, from what books she liked to how she thought her name was 'boring'. "Really? I think its a fine name."
Eventually, the girl went on to introduce herself in-proper. And to Alice, the fact that she was such a recognized trainer was somewhat of a surprise: "The Elite Four, in Unova?" With how casually Mei flung away the fact, it was hard to believe that she was someone who took competitive training that seriously. For Alice, her journey amounted to a bit of soul-searching to figure out what to do with life: very few of the people Alice knew were trainers actually ended up collecting more than a couple gym badges.
"Well, that's quite an accomplishment. And yes, I'm a trainer of sorts." Alice gave a shrug, patting Garnet's side: "Though I don't feel that the League is a challenge I have my heart set on chasing, you know? And you aren't interrupting all that much." Stretching out her arms, Alice gave a yawn. "Garnet wanted a place to stretch out, that's all."
Such an energetic spirit, Mei was. It wasn't hard to get sucked into her positive attitude, even if she was a bit overbearing. Though, something did edge in the side of Alice's mind:

"You really think so? My actual name is Yuuki but everyone in my family has that name and Mei sounded cuter I think.. So that's why I decided to go by Mei and be nice and different from the rest of them. I never want to be thought of as the same as someone else, you know?" Chatting away merrily was one of the things the girl did best of all. It was both a positive and a negative trait, something she could never help. She didn't ever really calm down, either. That was another slight issue, howeve.
"Oh yes, my friends and I were really eager to do so when we first journeyed.. We made a promise to beat the league. Kyouhei was always a step ahead of me, and Hugh is really strong too.." She mused, momentarily distracted by the thought of her time as a trainer in the past. She couldn't help but miss those times, when she and her friends had travelled near enough to one another to catch up. "We just learned how to battle and then took out Team Plasma the second time too, those silly goons."
A soft giggle sprung from her throat as she looked back up at Alice. "I love battling, and the league was a very good way for me to train my team. But it's not for everyone and I don't think there's anything wrong with not wanting to defeat all of them... There are many thngs that can be done." Grinning, Mei nodded.
"I have an Arcanine who likes to spread out too. She takes up so much space when she wants to sleep. Sometimes I think she makes herself bigger when it's nap time." The brunette chuckled, bouncing up and down on her toes. The question afterwards however caused her to sink down a little, losing some of her cheeriness.
"Lately, yes. Hugh and Kyou have been travelling, and they're busy now. So it's really the only option I have if I want to go anywhere. But I have Callypso and Morella and all my other Pokemon who help me out."
