He had held the flowers in his right hand and the box of chocolates in his left hand as he made his way off towards Crystal's house. It had been a house they had shared together at one point, but his childish nature had seen to it that wasn't anymore. He had no one to blame for this but himself, and after pretty much drowning himself in a booze and the panties of other women for a month or two he finally came to his senses. He had made a lot of mistakes in his relationship with Crystal, but he was now ready to make things right. He couldn't afford to be letting himself get drunk and sleep with the closest women he could find, not while he had a child on the way. Besides if he played his cards right maybe, just maybe he could get another chance to be with the women he loved.
Of course he wasn't just here to see how she was doing with the baby and attempting to prove to her that he truly was ready to be with her. He had another thing he needed to discuses with her, he needed to talk with her about the attack that had happened at Kanto. The Knights now had a Pokemon that Gold knew all to well on their side, and he wasn't okay with this at all. If they had Arceus now under there control then the Knights needed to be feared a lot more than Gold had originally thought, they had just become a bigger threat. A threat that needed to be stopped, and to do that all the Dex Holders were going to be needed together...so this little visit was also a bit of a business call.
Gold took a deep breath when the sight of Crystal's door came into view, and he could feel his heart begin to beat a little faster. Was he nervous? Why would he be nervous? He had seen her a few times after they had broke up, and he didn't feel nervous then. So why would this time be any different? Maybe it was because this time he actually felt like he had a chance of getting her back, or maybe because he didn't know how she'd react to the flowers and chocolate.
Either way he made his way up to her door and let his hand knock against it. He waited...waited for her to answer the door.
Crystal was a very heavily pregnant woman. Eight months, in fact, and the roundness to her belly was making that apparent. She had been deep in research for the months since she had broken off her engagement to Gold, and had been working with the Elite Trainers and other Researchers to find out exactly what was happening in each of the regions.
Well, now that was clear, and some of the people she had most respected, people she ahd considered friends and allies were dead. They were broken, gone from the world and she was left locked in her home with a very swollen belly and a very active set of twins within her womb. She was curled up on the couch on this particular day, her papers sprawled out around her as she attempted to make sense of what had been going on.
Like Gold, she knew the occurances, the happenings, were bad. The fact that this team of people now had control of Arceus was a bad sign for all in the world, as the God of Pokemon should never be controlled- at least, not in her own opinion. Dark hair was left loose, too much effort in the need to put it up. She looked tired, and more than a little under the weather, but what else could be said of a very pregnant woman.
A knock on her door brought the assistant professor out of her daze, and Crys blinked in confusion as it registered. Right, the door. "I'm coming!" She chimed, knowing that whomever it was that was waiting would - hopefully - understand that getting to the door was harder than it sounded for someone of her body.
Slowly, she untangled herself from her blanket and got to her feet, steadying herself on the couch before she moved slowly to the door, opening it without thinking to look - only to come face to face with Gold. She gulped, looking down at herself and feeling quite uncomfortable.
Her loosest track pants and a hoodie were all she had the energy to wear, and it certainly was unusual to see Crystal looking anything but neat - but once more, there were liberties in understanding a pregnant woman's needs. "H-Hi, Gold." She uttered, reaching up to brush an untidy strand of hair back from her face.
"W-what are you doing here? I mean, I didn't expect you.." Crystal flushed. Perhaps it was the children within her, or perhaps it was the fact that she had always loved him, but Crys felt that unconscious pull she always had, and wanted to hug him, but kept her distance. He had gone, and rightly so, when she had ended it. There was little chance he would want her to fall into his arms.
But then, why did he have chocolates and flowers? Perhaps he had done something wrong. In perhaps the most Crys-like voice she'd managed since she'd answered the door, she let a small smile play at her lips as she asked: "What have you done?"
Gold hadn't actually been really prepared to see Crystal the way she was when the door was opened. He stood staring at her for a few seconds, and without thinking much he let something slip out of his mouth "You've gotten bigger." were the words that came from his mouth. He quickly caught on to what he had said, and placed the hands with the flowers in them over his mouth. "Sorry." he muttered from behind the flowers.
However he soon lowered them when she asked what he had done wrong. "Nothing. Just because I show up here with some flowers and chocolate doesn't mean I did something wrong." he did his best to actually appear as though he was pouting, but was pretty it failed. Either way he held out the flowers and chocolate soon after, "I brought them because I thought you might need something to cheer you up, and I figured what better than this stuff." said Gold with a smile. A part of him wanted to just tell her that he was ready for a another chance, but why would she take him back? He had messed up and couldn't blame her for wanting to not be with him.
Though feelings about wanting to be with her again aside, he actually had matters in which he needed to talk with her about. Which was why it was no surprise that after the chocolates and flowers left his hands, his face took on a rather serious look. "I also came here to talk to you about another matter, I believe you already know what I'm talking about." The Knights of Arceus. now actually had the Pokemon God in there hands. Gold could still remember his last encounter with the Pokemon and it didn't turn out well for him, he wonder if this time would be any different. "Mind if I come in?"
Crystal was about ready to let him in, recovering from her shock at his sudden appearance when he commented on the largeness of her frame. Instantly her hands flew to her hips, eyes narrowed somewhat. She had taken everything that had happened recently to heart, and the fact that he was standing their insulting her - for something he caused, no less - was not about to start boding well for the young man who came bearing gifts. The researcher breathed out, forcing herself to keep calm (though her hormones were telling her to shout at him) and she looked the father of her children in the eyes as she replied, "Next time use protection and you won't have to worry about seeing someone grow in size."
Her face softened a little as he apologised, and she shrugged. "Mind your tongue. If you thought I was aggressive before, try having two children kicking your gut to pieces while the world falls apart around you and maintaining your cool. I have hormones on top of hormones, so please just watch what you say." She grumbled, moving aside from the door so that her ex-fiance could come inside.
"Unfortunately chocolates and flowers won't really counteract losing Emerald, Gold. He was very dear to me, like a brother. Flannery was equally as painful a loss, though she was not a dear friend in the same manner." Crystal closed the door behind him, locking it without second thought. Times were dangerous, leaving the door unlocked was stupid and all it did was make her frustrated and upset.
"I know what you are talking about, I have been watching and doing my research. Green and Oak have all of the information I have collected on the Knights since I have started. I know that I should be physically out there, fighting. I wish I could be. But I am eight months pregnant with twins, Gold. I would likely be the least help out of anyone. It doesn't help that every day I feel weaker and weaker, waiting to get ready to bring children into a world that is too damaged." She looked away as she moved over to the table, arranging the flowers in an empty vase in the center. The chocolates she left on the edge of the table, glancing over at Gold.
"Can I make you some tea or something? If I can help in any way from here, I will. But I can't do much on the field right now, it's just not physically possible." Crystal didn't doubt that she would be making a difference. She was itching to be out there, itching to help and kick ass the way that only she could. But she was stuck, She was, unfortunately, unable to move forward much more. Once she gave birth, oh, those Knights were going to hear about it.
