Scoping out targets was fairly easy. You looked for people who already had a good heart, you looked for people who would be willing to help out someone in need or to give someone directions. That was the quickest and easiest way to find someone who would be easy to coax into the lull of a dreamless sleep via hypnosis, and then coaxed into doing exactly what no one would do willingly - hand over their pokemon.
Evelyn was currently watching passerbys from her position on a park bench, Legs folded neatly underneath herself, ankles crossed like the lady she was. Violet eyes blinked very rarely, but were softened to appear warm and kind. Clutched in her hand was a necklace of no value but with plenty of sparkle. The method in which she could ask a "kind passerby" to help out before she pounced on them and took their pokemon.
There was noone out today that appeared to her as a decent enough target - no one she expected to fall easily into her trap. Too many times had she been staring at people in an attempt to get them to do what she wanted them too, but fear also struck when she thought about the possibility that they would be immune to her skills with words. There was a few people out there who just didn't take well to gentle coaxing. They were few and far between, particularly when what seemed like a sweet, pretty girl was lulling them into false sense of security, but they were out there.
Tugging her long ponytail over her shoulder, she began to run her fingers through the wavy mixture of hair, detangling it as she sat and watched in mild misery. Perhaps if she looked sad enough someone would merely come up to her, giving her the opportunity to drop the necklace around the area, claim she needed glasses to see anything and get them that way.
Holding her eyes open for longer than necessary and allowing tears to well up in them, she hung her head and let out a whimper. Surely someone would react to that. Who could see a girl crying on the side of a path and just walk past? Well, apparently a few people, but she hoped there would still be a few who collapse into her trap.

It was a nice day in the city. It was almost nice enough to make one forget about the problems in the world, but Draco knew it wouldn't last. He stood tall and proud, as usual, at six and a quarter feet tall and he was wearing his usual black garb, including the cloak that covered his steel arm. He let his long, blond hair flow down just past his shoulders today, not wanting a ponytail to get in the way of feeling the wind in his hair. Zero, his Lucario, stayed a couple paces behind him on the right, looking around at the unfamiliar city and the people within.
Draco was looking, too; particularly at a fairly young-looking woman who seemed to be crying. She was sitting down on a bench just off the path that Draco and Zero were on, and who was Draco to leave a sad girl all to herself? As he started toward the girl, he tugged his cloak over a bit, making sure his steel arm wasn't showing. Afterall, he didn't want anyone getting a heads-up on who he was or what threat he might or might not pose to them. If someone were to try to get a jump on him, he wanted to make sure they had a strong look of surprise on their face when they felt a steel hand on their neck. He didn't really think, or rather he hoped, that he wouldn't need to use his right arm today. Perhaps the problems of this girl could simply be solved with words alone.
He took the last few steps toward the girl as he spoke in a low, raspy voice, "What reason could a beautiful girl like yourself have for crying on such a nice day?" He stopped next to her and looked down at her for a moment before he sat down on her right, keeping his right arm out of her reach should she get emotional and all touchy-feely on him. The look on his face was still somewhat stern, but with a caring look in his eyes.

Evie was shocked, almost frightened at how quickly the waterworks brought on someone who was going to fall for her trap. She knew that a girl crying on the side of a path was enticing to some, but she had never expected it to work that well. With a very, very subtle flick of her fingers she flung the chain in her hand outward and looked up desperately at Draco. She was so very careful to meet his gaze and express in her deep violet one the fact that she was miserable.
She could be an oscar-winning actress would someone give her the right stage.
A quick sniffle and a pleading look later, she breathed out softly and looked out over the grass. "You're too kind for stopping," she breathed in that all-too-soft, all-too-sweet voice that she used so well and so often. The coaxing, approachable tone that so many could fall in love with, "You see, my grandmother bought me a gold chain when I was nine years old, and she passed away last year. I was training with my pokemon and it fell off somewhere in the grass around here.. I didn't wear my contacts today, and I daren't go home and get them in case someone picks it up.. I don't supposed you'd help me?"
Her hand reached up, careful not to touch him (for touch locked in memory better than voice did) and clutched at her heart in desperation. This man, whoever he was, was not an easy target. She had young women and small men who had fallen for her traps before, and he was neither of those things. Certainly she could weave her voice's magic over him, but perhaps she would wait for now and instead work her way into trust. The more trust, the better, after all.
"My eyesight is terrible at the worst of times, but I do so hate to wear glasses.. Everyone says eyes are important windows, and having frames tends to harm that.." She faked a flush, covering her face with her hands and glancing away as she looked back down at the grass. "I don't suppose you can see the reflection from the light? All I see is a mess of green."

She was an incredible actress, but a subtle nudge from Zero let Draco know that this girl was a fake. He smiled at her in a comforting manner as he stood up slowly so as not to make her suspicious. She wanted to play games, so Draco didn't want to disappoint her. He started to look around in the grass around the bench, straining his eyes in a feint of looking for the lost necklace.
"I'm afraid I don't see it, miss." He took a step over to stand in front of the woman, then crouched down to look her in the eye. He placed his left hand on her knee and smiled as reassuringly as he could. "I don't like being played for a fool." He kept a smile on his face as he spoke in a low voice so only she could hear and so onlookers would still think he was helping her. "See Zero there? He's one of the Lucarios strong enough to see auras. Yours doesn't look nice, apparently. What's your game, woman?" With that, he stood up and took a step back, the smile fading from his lips.

Evelyn was not one to miss a beat. This man had somehow apparently figured out that she wasn't all she made out to be, but that was not going to give her any sort of leverage. No one knew about the Knights, they were a secret organisation hiding behind storms, after all, he might have been throwing the accusation out there but she would not fall into his reversed trap.
Evelyn didn't like the hand that touched her leg ever so gently. She didn't like the look he was giving her or the accusation that he was making. But she was quite the actress, and even with his "helpful" exterior, she knew the right reaction could cause a stir in the park. Without even pausing, she let out a high-pitched scream, a wail of epic proportions as she threw herself onto the ground and backwards. He wanted to assume she was bad? Let the world assume otherwise, he was the one towering and threatening over a demure, sweet woman, after all. "Please! Don't hurt me! You can have all of my money and anything expensive! Please don't hurt me, all I want to find is the necklace my grandmother gave me!"
She whimpered softly, hand sneaking under her coat pocket to brush over her pokeballs. It was not an unlikely thing for a woman to do, even if he was to assume she was bad. Her other hand continued to run over the grass, still desperately searching. "I really am just looking for my grandmother's necklace, I don't know what your lucario thinks but that's all it is, sir!" She whimpered again, hand flying up to her heart in feigned honesty.
She cowered once more, "What can I give you, to make you leave me alone?" She cried, throwing herself down onto the ground. Evie was certainly glad she'd picked a busy street. Passerbys looked on, a few waiting to step in and help, though many were nervous due to the spike on the man's arm.

we get what we want, we do what you don't, dirt and glitter cover the floor, we're pretty and sick, we're young and we're bored
Aidan had a headache. And Aidan with a headache was Aidan more sleep deprived than usual, and that was never a good combination for anyone who got on his bad side that day. Or days, as the case was. It had been far too long since he had had even the shortest of naps, his usual night terrors keeping him awake and on edge long past when he should have been resting. Anyone who happened to bump him on the street was met with a glare and a snarl, and even Amaterasu, his Espeon, was barely enough to keep him from reaching for his gun at every slight.
It was bad. It was very, very bad. He didn't remember why he had thought venturing into the city would be a good idea. The loud noises were only making his head hurt worse, which was only pushing his temper closer and closer to the breaking point. Was there not a quiet area in all of the city? Admittedly it was easier to find Pokemon to steal here, but the noise made him miss his usual forest route much more. If he had one more over the top loud noise make his headache worses...
And that was when he heard the scream. Snarling, he reached for his gun, turning to see who exactly was intent on ruining his day, and was surprised when he saw pink hair of a shade he actually recognized. It was that lady with the voice...the voice that had put him to sleep... His decision was made in an instant, and Apollo, his Arcanine, was alongside his Ama in stepping between Evelyn and the man in front of her as Aidan made his way up from behind.
"Mine," he growled, nodding towards the pink haired girl on the ground, his hand tightening around his gun in its holster. "Go away." He did not want to hear any more shrieking, any more over the top noises. All he wanted was the sleep the girl had promised him at their last meeting, a sleep without nightmares. Grouchy men didn't have manners, after all, so he'd never admit that part of him was just stepping in for a lady.

Draco hated female criminals. He couldn't attack them outright. He wanted to punish criminals, not break them apart. True, there were likely women out there who could take a punch from him, but this pink haired girl was not likely one of them. That's when someone finally decided to step in.
He didn't know who this man was, but with the way he looked at the woman, they had to be acquaintances. Draco took this time to look around at the growing number of people watching the scene and decided that this was not the best time to pursue this likely criminal. He took a step back, eyes darting to the man with his hand on a gun curiously. "You got a license for that thing, buddy?" His eyes narrowed at the man, but he waved his hand at Zero, who was bringing his fists up, ready for a fight.
Zero frowned and assumed a neutral stance again, clearly unhappy about being unable to pursue justice right now. Draco glanced over at Zero, who nodded slowly. It was almost as if the two were communicating telepathically, but it would be impossible for anyone but the two of them, and possibly the Espeon with the gunman, to know what it was they were thinking. Zero could sense an aura very similar to the woman's on the man, but they still couldn't tell how deep the connection was between the two.
Evie was expecting the next thing she heard to be an order for an attack and her hand was clutching firmly at her Ninetale's pokeball. She couldn't outwardly state that she had expected to be harmed, considering if worse came to worse she would have hypnotised the man and been done with it, but there was another turn of events that lead to her shock. She still hand a hand over her face dramatically when a growly voice interjected on behalf of her, and she blinked as her hand dropped to the ground - ironically enough falling on the gold chain she had supposedly 'lost'.
Her fingers curled around it and as if to prove her point, she held it up in the air, "See, I just found it there, I don't know why you assume the worst of me sir, " She spoke almost under her breath from her position on the ground. Evelyn's eyes searched the newcomer and recognised him as the cranky sleep-deprived man she had met and a small smile crept onto her lips. It would have been the last thing she'd thought, for someone like him to take up position of defense on her behalf. She slowly managed to get to her feet - even more confused by the 'mine' statement, but perhaps it was just part of his idea to hurry her attacker away - and left a hand carefully on Blue's pokeball.
"You heard him, leave me alone. I was doing no harm but looking for something precious to me. Your lucario must see wrong because I'm sure a great number of my friends would tell you that I'm the opposite of 'not nice', and you are standing here insulting me with no good reason other than an assumption you believe your pokemon has made, I have done you nor any others any harm and you stand there saying I'm a bad person. I ought to report you to the rangers for harrassment." She frowned, her arms folding over her chest and fingers dancing on the edge of the pokeball. Well, she was certainly feeling much safer with Aidan's gun trained on her assailant.
Evie glanced over at Aidan then down at Amaterasu followed finally by Apollo. It was unlikely this man and his Lucario could take on her team, an Arcanine, Espeon and a gun-weilding man all at once, so she was feeling quietly confident that no matter the outcome she and her newfound protector would be the successors of this particular scuffle. "Please stop your unnecessary accusations and threats, perhaps this gentleman here is a ranger himself and he is licensed to use that weapon, did you ever stop to consider that before you started snarling accusations at random passerbys?"
