Yellow couldn't believe how stupid she was.
The sun's rays dusted the surface of the planet, it's brilliant light setting the world below aglow. Not a cloud in the sky dared to challenge the star's reign over the sky that mid afternoon, stearing clear from the vision of any person down below. It was fair out, to say the very least; a bit chilly with a strong breeze that swept across the ground every now and then, but bareable enough that a light jacket was all that was necesarry for the average person. How had it been since there were days like this? Looking on the weather forecast from days prior, one would believe that the pattern of stormy, windy weather would have carried onto this particular day. However, the rains had cleared leaving a majestic day in their wake; what more could one ask from Mother Nature?
A figure darted through the small crowds of Virbank, occationally bumping into one person or another and having to throw an apology around before pushing through the masses once more. A confused look etched their face, a map was clutched firmly in their soft hands, and every step was uncertain. And why wouldn't it be? They were lost. Utterly and completely lost. Not to mention they stuck out like a sore thumb, squeezing past this person and that while everyone else in that blasted industrial city knew exactly where they were going. No one stopped to asist the poor stumbling fool, either out of lack of concern or not quite knowing how to approach them or what to say to assist. Sadly, it had been this way for quite some time and the person still had no idea where they were going, much less where to go to find their way.
A breathy, defeated sigh escaped Yellow's lips as the woman adjusted the hat that had been bestow upon her head for the umpenth time. It seemed as though she'd been in the Unovan city for an eternity, walking straight into dead ends or getting caught in the crowd when so close to the Pokemon Center. Truthfully, she'd only been there an hour, give or take, but, without a something to read the time off of, she wouldn't have been able to know that. The place wasn't even all that great, from what she could tell; even with so many water ways, the air reaked of obnoxious fumes everywhere she went. This was just another one of the many reasons she prefered quaint towns to the more industrial ones - the awful smells that came with that sort of thing. But stenches were the last of her worries at that point in time. No, she had to find her way first and discover a way out of the city so she could find her... escort, so to speak.
The blond and her uncle Wilton had set sails for Unova just days before, traveling on the nearest boat at the lowest price they could find... at probably one of the worst times to cross the gap between Kanto and the distant region. The aging man had some business there to attend to - what was it again? Something have to do with fishing, most likely... Bah, she would have to remember later - and had invited her along for a chance to see some things she would never see anywhere else. The land mass had left her in awe for a while, guessing as their first stop was Castelia, home to many, many skyscrapers. Of course, at that moment, she just wanted to be back home where she knew most of the towns and cities fairly well. After docking in Castelia, they were to take another means of travel to their destination. However, the female was seperated from him and somehow found herself on the exact opposite side of the region. Funny how, in such a short time, she was taken so far from the one person she wanted to see at that moment.
"There aren't even many Pokemon to see..." Yellow breathed, staring at the water beside the road he purple boots were planted on. "I suppose I could try to fish for something, but how could anything live down there with this place... being this place...?" This prospect sparked an idea in the young trainer's mind and, to curious to give up then, the female leaned over to gaze into the water's depths, clutching her map tightly as the wind began to pick up again. For a while, there was nothing. No sign of life whatsoever in the liquid's captivity. When she was just about to turn and leave, discouraged once more, a flicker of movement caught her attention. Only seconds later, a Finneon leapt into the air, splashing filthy water all over her clothes and straw hat and startling her. In her surprise, her grip on her way around town loosened and the paper was taken airborn. Terrified of getting even more lost, the girl reached out to snatch it out of the air only to be carried out of her reach and into the skies.
The universe was really out to get her, wasn't it and all of it's evil glory?
Biting the tip of her thumbnail, the healer couldn't help but worry. Earlier, she at least had the slightest bit of an idea of where she was headed. She'd never been so terribly lost that the map looked more like some ancient language than what it actually was supposed to be. Without it, what was she to do? She didn't have a photographic memory, and she most certainly didn't know her way around. In less than fifteen minutes, she'd be lost to a point of tears, guessing as her luck up until that point since she left Kanto hadn't exactly been all that great. It was times like these that Yellow really wondered why she did anything with her uncle. Something bad always seemed to happen. Like what happened in Johto - would this be some repeat of the Johto fiasco?
"And not even any company to help pass the time..."
Virbank was a plenty large town sure. It had the town itself, and then the Complex. It was the perfect place to hold a show! Though of course... she had never really been to Virbank more than three times, as this part of the region was more or less out of her range of work. Like any Unovian, she knew her way around. Today she carried in addition to her own Pokemon, some of the Pokemon from the agency, so she of course she had to be careful, more so than usual. These were other people's Pokemon, not her own! She held tight onto Jessica's soft fur as the Sawsbuck tried to maneuver her way through the rough concrete city.
"Well at least it isn't raining like last time, right? I mean, Nancy was happy, but we sure weren't!" White huffed as she swayed with Jessica's shifting movements. The Sawsbuck drew in a breath and let it out in a sturdy snort, letting the girl on her back know that of course she hadn't forgotten. Not that she didn't like rain, but even the water that fell around this city felt toxic. Disgusted by the thought of it, Jessica swung her head a bit, trying to shake the feeling and earned a confused glance from White. Of course, she wouldn't have been able to sympathize with the deer because she didn't exactly have leaves to absorb the very taste of the rain, but if there was anyone who hated that more than Jessica, it was Amanda.
"Now...we were supposed to end up in town center, right?" White asked as they continued their journey. Jessica sighed. How would she know? One moment she was nice and cozy, sleeping the day away in her Pokeball, and the next minute, there she was, saddling White through a town once again. Not that she minded that much but White could never seem to pick better times to decide she wanted to travel somewhere. Though there was something about White that just made her impossible to stay annoyed with for more than an hour. It was a curse her Pokemon to bare, that was for sure. Herself, Amanda, Nancy, Barbara, and all the others agreed on this very aspect, except Dorothy, who seemed to have an indifferent attitude towards White all together.
"I hope Patrat and Mincinno actually get along today. I mean, how are you supposed to play Romeo and Juliet when you keep tackling each other off stage?!" She questioned heatedly. Jessica rolled her eyes. She really had to stop asking questions. Rather than answering with any sort of sigh or huff, Jessica allowed herself to turn the corner smoothly, White watching the slimy looking river as they passed by it. Being a resident in the region, the last thing she'd ever do would be release Nancy into that mess, she thought to herself idly. Though, White suddenly snapped back into reality when she spotted a woman who looked...slightly lost. She was about to offer some assistance when the paper she was holding flew right out of her hands. It looked important as the girl desperately tried to capture it. "Come on Jesscia!" She called, her excitement spilling into her voice causing Jessica to start in a run. Bunching her muscles together, Jessica took a jump clear over the woman, falling squarely on her hooves and rushing off after the paper. White tried to get Jessica to jump after it but finally, the paper went up too high for Jessica to get. Thinking fast, White threw a Pokeball into the air, releasing Barbara.
"Barbara, get that paper!" Knowing the bird would kill her later, she watched as Barbara retrieved the flying map and came down to drop it in her hands. Jessica turned around and trotted back to where they had come from, Barbara overhead as the girl from before finally came into view. In triumph, White handed her the map. "This is yours right?" She asked, a smile in place characteristically on her face.

Perhaps she should have prepared herself for a trip deep into the heart of another region, one that she wasn't familiar with in the least.
It was certainly something to think about, guessing as the blonde had lost her only way out of the city with the map that'd vanished into the air and that was all she could really do - thinking and pray that someone was kind enough to show her the way. She'd known that she'd be tagging along to Unova for barely over a week, which would have given her plenty of time to study up on where she was going. There were bound to be maps that she had access to somewhere and, with their assistance, she would know the general area in which she was an have a vague idea of where she was to be headed. From the occational sign she spotted, the girl had been able to assume that she was currently in Virbank town. However, that wouldn't exactly help her unless she knew where, exactly, the city was and where, exactly, her uncle would have been taking her had they not gotten seperated. Did he even tell her the exact place where the event was taking place? The more she tried to remember, the more she realized how futile it was. Knowing him, he'd probably omitted that important piece of information, trusting her to stick by his side and not get lost - what she was at that very moment - as a result of straying away.
Perhaps other people in her situation would have been incredibly annoyed by such a situation or would start pinning the blame on anything and everything they could have been. There was the crowds that had seperated she and the dark-haired man in the first place and sent her to a different boat in a tidal wave of movement. They could have been to blame. There were the people in charge of that very ship that could have told her she was on the incorrect one or how to get back, but no, that was just to much of an inconvienience. Those were just more people she could have pinned the blame on. Then there were the crowds here that also swept her to and fro effortlessly and refused to assist her in any way at all. They could also be at fault for her situation. But Yellow refused to believe any of that. If she'd just been a bit less careless, been able to force her way through the crowds instead of not wanting to bump into anyone and going along with the flow, she wouldn't be there at the moment, would she have been? And it was technically also her own fault for not just walking up to someone and askign them straight out for help. A simple, "I'm lost, can you help me find my way?" could have done the trick. Of course, it would be rude to approach a stranger like that.
Movement against her leg caused her to startle, green eyes snapping to see what had nudged her. Oh, that was right. Chuchu was at her side once more, bumping into her gently with a worried glance in her eye. Was it that she was worried about her trainer, sensing her slight distress and fearing there was nothing she could do? Or was she simply uneasy due to the fact that they were both as lost as the Ugly Duckett from that one story she'd always read as a child. Lost in thought, Yellow had even forgotten that her partner was present and at her side, causing a wave a guilt to crash into her like the waves of a stormy sea. Patting the electric-type gently on the head, she liften the mouse into the air and placed her in her lap. "It's alright, Chuchu," she cooed quietly, trying to reassure both it and herself. "We'll get out of here... Eventually... We've gotten lost before and have always managed to find the right path again, right...?" The mouse did not look one hundred percent convinced. However, the subject was dropped, leaving the pony-tailed Dex Holder to sit and think in utter silence once more.
But, then again, the silence did not last long.
Movement out of the corner of her eye caught Yellow's attention, causing the yellow-clothed female to twirl on her heels to catch sight of whoever was ther. For the most part, she'd been alone, hadn't she? Escaped the few crowds to a place of solitude. Had they caught up with her, their sole purpose truly to cause her more problems? Of course, the woman parellel to her - was the brunette younger? She was taller, but height was never a thing the Kanto female excelled in - made no movement towards her and the thought was quickly cast to the wind. Besides - people didn't just run up to others in order to cause them misery, correct? She must not have been thinking for as long as she imagined, guessing as the map was still visible in the pony-tailed girl's track of sight not moments after Yellow had caught sight of her. However, unlike what she had expected, the stranger made an attempt to retrieve the runaway article. "Come on, Jessica!" she shouted, excitement evident in her voice, causing the deer-like Pokemon - what kind of Pokemon was that, anyway? - to give chase, jumping clear over her head. A screech escaped her mouth as the shorter of the two squatted down, hands over her head, only for her to turn and see the Pocket Monster closing in on the paper. The trainer must have noticed that the paper was to high for the four-legged creature, guessing as she released yet another foreign creature to assist. "Barbara, get that paper!"
It appeared that this strange flying-type was able to catch the map before it flew to far away, guessing as it did just that before returning it to it's master. Why had this girl gone through so much trouble to get a map for someone she probably had never even heard of? For a split second, the blond wondered if it was because she intended to keep it for herself and run off with it. However, the idea was quickly cast away. She had more faith in humanity than that. In addition, it appeared that the other trainer was approaching her, asking with a smile, "This is your's, right?" For a moment, she was unsure of what to say. When the words finally came, she found that she let them out to quickly, anyway. "Yes!" she almost shouted before feeling guilty and trying to fix her mistake. "I-I mean... Yes, that is mine... Thank you..." An awkward smile tugged on the corners of Yellow's mouth as she tried to be as polite to this person as possible, all while still slightly embarassed by her short little outburst. After all - this person did save her one way out of the city, if she'd ever be able to learn how to read it and find out where she was, and that was something to be thankful for.

Jessica raised her head, twisting it as she watched Barbara hover in circles over them, vulture style. It was honestly typical of the Mandibuzz, since that was what she was, but it still annoyed her. She, nor White, should have been hovered around like a pair of Babara's tasy morsels.
Looking up, White caught her attention on the fashion in which the bird was flying in, and held up her Pokeball. A crimson beam shot out, hitting the bird and turning her into the same energy before sucking her inside the ball. Sighing, White took the Pokeball and moved it back into her trusty bag. Sometimes that bird was nothing but trouble, yet somehow, she wondered how she was casted in all the villain roles. Finally, she turned back the Yellow, noting that she looked a bit nervous.
"Is something the matter? Are you sick or anything like that?" She questioned, examining the girl for any signs of fatigue or otherwise. Of course she wasn't a doctor, but she could always take her to one if she needed it. Though, it hadn't hit White that maybe this one wasn't a Unovian resident at all. That maybe she was just lost. She always considered the way more serious things first.
"Oh right. It must seem really silly, a stranger asking you these kinds of things, my name is White." She mentioned, Jessica snorting as if she could care less if she were introduced or not. Why would it matter if White had decided to waste more of their time Introducing a human to a Sawsbuck? Besides, it wasn't like Jessica could tell her where to shove it, like she wanted to with most humans half the time. With a slight smile, White held out her hand to Yellow, offering her a friendly Unovian welcome in a handshake, the best she knew how.
words;;1249 words. tagged;;cali as white. muse;;meh. notes;; i'm just gonna cut with the apologies and yeah.
Yellow always found something to be thankful for.
It was true, really, even in the darkest of hours. Perhaps that was how she always managed to remain so cheerful, dispite all of the horrors and brutality that had been thrown in her general direction. From the smallest little thing, like not being able to open a pickle jar to the largest of affairs, like the fate of an entire region at stake, there was always something nice to look forwards to or to be greatful for in the mess of things. Many people tended to overlook these sort of things, if one were to think about it long and hard. Why do the tiniest of things manage to set a person's day completely off? Is it because so many good things that we don't even notice happen to us on a regular basis so, when something bad happens, it only effects us that much more? Maybe that was one of the reasons Yellow was hard to upset. Because she could see the good things that came hand in hand with the not-so-good things.
There were so many different examples, even throughout her own life. She'd been attacked in the forest by a rampaging Dratini as a young child, which could easy be concidered tragic. Of course, at the same time, she had met her greatest friend, hero, and even crush, if she had to admit, in that situation. If she hadn't been put into that sort of danger, would she ever have met him? It was also meeting him that lead her to be able to save all of Kanto - maybe even the rest of the world - from the evil grip of a madman who wanted to kill them all. She wouldn't have gone looking for him if she hadn't befriended him, right? And, if the Elite Four hadn't attacked the region, she wouldn't have gotten to know Green and Blue - some of her most near and dear friends - as well as she did. The catasrophes she'd taken part in in Johto, Kanto again, and Hoenn only proved her point even more. This meeting, getting lost in a city like Virbank, was also just another example.
Sure, the blond was lost and, sure, her hopes were down. But someone had approached her - someone had approached her - and, judging by how the stranger was acting so far, she wouldn't be lost for long. The brunette before her seemed plenty nice, in addition. Could this be another friend in the making that saved her from getting lost in a region she was completely unprepared for? Well, there was always the possiblity that this was another enemy waiting to stab a knife in her neck, but she didn't bother with thinking about such absurdaties. Not only was she not overly suspicious of people, but this girl looked even younger than herself. There was no one someone so - did she dare say it? - adorable looking could be a deadly assassin or something of the sort out to kill her while she was vunerable and alone.
The strange, foreign flying-type that had saved her precious map and returned it to her was now flying in circles much like the animal it was made to look like. While the creature's trainer and deer-like Pocket Monster seemed indifferent, if not a little annoyed by it's behavior, Yellow, herself, could not help but let out the tiniest of giggles. It was interesting to see the Pokemon this strange region had to offer. Nothing like good old Kanto, that was for sure, and the things it had to offer for it's people and visitors. A bit of disappointment washed over her, she hated to admit, when the bird was returned to it's Poke'Ball without a word. It was interesting, watching it fly in a centripetal motion above their heads. Now that it was gone, out of site, and pocketed away, she wouldn't be able to study it any more. Oh, well. She could simply admire the grass-type that has also assisted in the recapture of her paper.
The way the Unovian girl stared at her with slight worry only caused the short female to grow a bit more nervous. Did she have something on her face? Was she giving weird looks without really trying to? It slightly displeased her when people stared at her and didn't tell her why, in all honesty. It brought out whatever sel insecurities she had. However, the awkward silence was short lived when the blue-eyed female asked, "Is something the matter? Are you sick or anything like that?" Oh no! She was giving weird looks without really trying to, wasn't she? She openned and closed her mouth repeatedly, looking for the right words to say in a form of self defense and apology to the strange girl. However, before any coherent thoughts could gather in her mind and she could form a sentance that made sense in the slightest, she was already being interupted. "Oh, right," she said as though struck with sudden realization. "It must seem really silly, a stranger asking you these kinds of things. My name is White."
A stranger asking her strange questions? Not exactly what she would have labled the problem if there was a problem in the first place, but she didn't bother saying those words aloud. White, huh? Others might have commented on how "weird" it was that she shared a name with a color. Of course, Yellow knew exactly how it felt to be named after a color and, therefor, was not fazed by it at all. What a small world it was, after all. Next thing she'd know, the pony-tailed female parallel to her would be pulling out a Poke'Dex and telling her she was a Dex Holder as well. Ha! Now, what a tale that would be! Again, the green-eyed healer was having a bit of trouble finding the right words to say to make up for the awkwardness she had caused to befall the two. When words finally came, however, they were not at all what she wanted them to be.
"Oh! Um... You're a color, too?" Pausing, she realized that made absolutely no sense whatsoever. "I-I mean, you're named after a color, too, and-" Letting out a sigh, she told herself, Stop before you hurt yourself. She stopped for a bit, recollecting her thoughts before saying slowly, "I mean... My name's Yellow. Nice to meet you." She offered a weak smile to the girl - no, not "the girl". White. Hopefully, that would make up for her horrible failure at speech, even if only in the slightest. At that point, she felt utterly terrible about mixing up her words and possibly confusing the wits out of the person who'd helped her. "U-um... Sorry... about seeming so weird... Uh... Thank you, again... For getting back my map, I mean..."
Perhaps small talk would help patch it all up? She wasn't great with words, but it was worth a shot. "Um... I hate to trouble you, since we just met and all, but... Well, you see, I'm not from around here and... I was hoping... you could, maybe, help me out...?"
[STYLE=border: 4px solid #151515; height: 100px; width: 100px; margin-top: 10px;][/style][STYLE=float:left; border: 4px solid #151515; height: 100px; width: 100px; margin-top: -108px; margin-left: 35px;][/style][STYLE=float:right; border: 4px solid #151515; height: 100px; width: 100px; margin-top: -108px; margin-right: 35px;][/style] [STYLE=font-family: georgia; font-size: 45px; color: #E7E1CD; text-transform: lowercase; margin-top: -8px;]SAVE YOUR HEART[/style][STYLE=font-family: arial narrow; font-size: 12px; margin-top: -10px; color: #CEC6AA; letter-spacing: 2px; text-transform: uppercase;]FOR SOMEONE THAT LEAVES YOU BREATHLESS[/style] [STYLE=font-size: 10px; font-family: arial; width: 340px; text-align: justify; background-color: #6E6E6E; padding: 17px; color: #000000; margin-top: 8px; opacity: 0.9;] There was nothing wrong with the way she was acting, that thought hadn't even crossed her mind. She watched the woman as she seemed to become lost in thought. Jessica's facial expression hadn't changed as she watched the woman either. Though White, she had to think maybe she had done something wrong because of the quiet air that surrounded them all of a sudden. It wouldn't have been the first time. Many times over the course of her career, she had said the wrong things to people, and she was wondering if that was making the pony-tailed woman uncomfortable now.
But she didn't have to wait much longer when a response came out. She glanced at the woman quizzically, The confusion clear on her face. A color?...too? She could only blink as she mulled that over. Well, of course white was a color, but she said the word too. Did that mean she had an unusual name like hers? She got teased a bit for that when she was younger, but when she had met Black, who had the same kind of strange name, she didn't feel so weird anymore.
"Yeah, I'm named just like the color. I suppose it's a little silly but-" She was cut off when the Woman told her her name was Yellow. She blinked in surprise. Yellow? Well...looking at her it made sense, but she had no idea so many people in the world were named after colors these days. Though she smiled nonetheless, pleased that she now knew Yellow's name.
"It's great to meet you too. I don't meet many people from out of region." Of course, Yellow hadn't outright said it, from the way she was dressed and how dependent she was on her map, she had just sort of guessed herself. Looking down at Chuchu, she allowed another smile for the Pikachu too.
"I didn't even see you there! How cute are you?"She mentioned, turning back to Yellow "Pikachu really are great Pokemon. I don't see many out here though." Obviously, White had no idea she was a Dexholder, much like herself, not to mention a much older one. Half of the time, she didn't even think of her Dex, but any tidbits about the holders of the other regions kind of left her mind, so this would have been why she hadn't freaked out over meeting Yellow. As she thanked her about the Map, White smiled again.
"No problem, I couldn't just watch it fly off knowing there was something I could do about it!" As she asked for help, White chuckled.
"Well, I have to get to a shoot today, but...why don't you come with me? It's in this town anyway so it might be a good plan, don't you think?" she asked as she hopped off Jessica and promptly returned her.
