Just because I'm losing
Doesn't mean I'm lost, Doesn't mean I'll stop, Doesn't mean I'm in a cross. Just because I'm hurting, Doesn't mean I'm hurt, Doesn't mean I didn't get what I deserve, No better and no worse. I just got lost, Every river that I've tried to cross, And every door I ever tried was locked, Ooh-Oh, And I'm just waiting till the shine wears off...
"Claire, are you sure you don't need me to go with you? I don't like this whole idea of you going to see...who is it, Xaiver's "Daddy?"" Richard mentioned as he hitched Richter to the cart that was to pull Claire all the way to Fortree. The Rapidash snorted, the fire burning brightly yet not burning Richard's skin as he brushed against the steed's mane. Claire, who was hopping up into the cart, turned to smile kindly at her uncle, shaking her head.
"I need to do it Uncle Rich. I'm leaving Xavier here until I know it's safe for him. I need you here to protect him. I have Richter, Trix and the others with me, I'll be okay." Her Aunt Hannah moved from the house, the baby bundled in her arms as she came up to the side of the cart.
"Oh...this is the first time you've traveled anywhere for a long time, are you sure you'll be okay?" Claire sighed. They were worrying as much as she was, on the inside anyway. She shook her head and smiled warmly down at the woman who held her son in her arms. Claire had the job of pulling people around town via the cart that she and Richter operated, but she hadn't been beyond Lilycove's walls in a long time, it was true.
"I'll be alright, okay? I'll call you and let you know what's going on as soon as I see him, okay? I won't let anything bad happen."She looked back at her two guardians, but she knew that their doubt was high. Their eyes betrayed their smiles. But she understood why. Claire's word wasn't really trust able at the moment, she had been the one that promised once she'd never get pregnant before it was time, but here she was. She took up Richter's reins and took another glance at her family. Xavier was staring blankly at her, the luster of of his crimson eyes driving her to slap the reins against Richter's flank. Her coat tail fluttered behind her as the horse took off, gliding over the light coat of snow on the ground with ease.
The color of her son's eyes had plagued her for a while now. He shared her hair color, but his eyes, those belonged to his father. The same man whom had placed her in all of this in the first place, and then so suddenly vanished. She had wondered and searched for months, but had been forced to give up. Then she was left by her father to fend for herself. All because of her- their baby. She hadn't given up the hope he was still even alive, but she had stopped searching for something she was afraid she'd never find again.
"Zane... just what happened to you?" Getting a text from him, it made her both relieved and angry all at once. He was okay, but he had also left her for months with no reason, no explination. But how did she even know it was Zane, and not just someone with his phone? it took her a while, but she soon reached Fortree, where she slowed down, taking her time to going through the weave of treehouses and ladders and such. Then, she reached and came out of the far side. She wanted to see him, but at the same time, she wanted to see him, and push him down a deep well. She gently held her head in her hands. She honestly didn't know what she wanted anymore, but she didn't dare leave her cart just yet.
