As agreed, Kyouhei waited patienty in a rather dry and treeless spot of the Moor of Icirrus. The boy was eager to once more challenge Hugh, since they didn't get to fight at the end of their journey; and to top it off, both had been improved in their own ways. Hugh had trained extensively in order to become a stronger trainer, while Kyouhei, not one to go the same way, simply continued to battle frequently as he always did. They had different styles, for sure, and this would be quite a heated fight by his predictions. Still, he couldn't contain his excitement.
The mop-haired trainer stood in the grass kicking a rock lightly in mentally counted intervals, with his hands in his jacket's pockets. It was getting warmer as spring came, and most snow had already melted under the hot spring sun, save a few spots here and there.
Mei might come to watch, too, so in a way, it was pretty much the first time they had scheduled a meeting and he had gotten there first.
There's a first time for everything, he supposed.

Squeaky and exciteable - they were the best words to describe Mei when she had heard about the battle between her two best friends. They were friends that she would never abandon, not in a a hundred years - and she was going to go to cheer them on. She didn't want to interfere, nor did she want to get between them as she knew tensions would be high between the two boys, and she appeared on the back of her firedog, the Arcanine running in at a comfortable speed.
Giving the moppy-haired boy a wave of greeting, the brunette found a comfortable place that was far enough out of the way to avoid any stray attacks but close enough to see the happenings, and she stroked the Pokemon's neck as she slid off her back. Callypso curled up in a ball of fluff and warmth, the female happily snuggling up amongst it to watch. Even if the weather was warming, she still would never deny a cuddle, and she crossed her legs easily to sit back and watch, pulling a pair of white pompoms out of her satchel to rest them beside her.
Because Arceus knew the boys would need some cheering considering the tension that was likely to be in the air. She giggled softly, shaking her head. They were silly, delightful boys. And she was definitely glad to have them both back in her life.

| SHEO as KYOUHEI & SLUTTERZ as MEI |
In preparation for their battle, Hugh had traveled to Icirrus City the evening before, and walked around the Moor in order to survey the landscape he and his long-time rival had planned, and to get an idea of the conditions he'd be using tomorrow.
Since 'spring had sprung' as the saying went, most of the snow had melted, leaving raised portions of the landscape dry while the lower 'valleys' were covered in fresh-melted puddles (though really they were too large to be just pulldes).
If those puddles kept through this morning, Hugh thought as he walked along, Tallulah will feel right at home. The Qwilfish-haired teen smirked slightly. He would be using his original team (for the most part, anyway) to fight Kyouhei - just like the good old days.
The first thing Hugh saw was the form of an Arcanine well off to the side of what he and Kyouhei had determined their 'arena' would be. Mei must be here to watch. His smirk grew larger behind his funnel-collar. Kyouhei better put up a good fight. If he's been battling as much as he's eating, this will be well worth my time.
Either way, Hugh was ready to, quite frankly, kick his rival's ass.
Kyouhei came into view on the other side of a 'pond' as Hugh would call it - way too big to be just a puddle. Shallow water, though, that pokemon could still stand in, covering a large and wide stretch of grass.
Hugh took his position in a spot of dirt surrounded by grass before the stretch of water. "Kyouhei!" Hugh shouted, inclining his chin to talk over his collar. A gloved hand reached behind him into the pack around his hips, pulling out a pokeball and holding his arm out to the side, expanding it in his grip. "I hope you're ready for this! I've been training constantly, and I'm going to show my time wasn't a waste! Lets see how much stronger you've become! Come at me!"
His hand whipped forward as he threw the ball, and the pokemon that took shape in the air as it burst forward sparkled briefly - it was shiny. Hugh's Togekiss, Seija, fluttered in the air to hover between them, the Twistedspoon hung around her neck like a charm glinting in the morning sunlight. She would be a good start to things.
