Emiko watched the man's shoes as Akari talked to him. How bad would it be if he would see those eyes of the Girl he once forced to shut up by violence? What if he could overpower the Ranger and hurt both of them? What if it all goes wrong and she is hurt even more. So many questions that Emiko hopes, remain only questions. Scrix growled even more as the man spoke. For him, he would kill the man right here and now, just or not just.
The man tilted his head and said calmly, without a faultering smile "Did that disgrace of a Girl tell you that? Might I ask who your companion is? She seems familiar.....but anyway...I KNOW NOTHING AD YOU SHOULD MOVE ON, Ma'ma

If there was one thing that could anger Akari, it was hurting people and Pokemon. Right now, it was experience and maturity that was keeping her calm and stopping her from slamming the man against the wall in frustration, like she would have done in her younger, more impulsive days. Instead, she kept her calm, but turned her features firmer. If the man wasn't taking her seriously, then she'd make him. "Insulting people in polite company is quite discourteous of you, Sir, and I would like to ask you to refrain from doing so." Brown eyes narrowed ever-so-slightly. "But if you must know, this girl was... is a citizen of this town. Whether you know her personally or not isn't what I came to ask you."
Shina and Emiko's Scrix were giving off more protective vibes. Akari turned her head slightly to them, and managed to glimpse her Sigilyph tensing. If the usually calm Psychic Pokemon was tensing up, that meant this man was bad news. Still, she wouldn't pull out the 'I'm a Ranger and I have authority to search your house and arrest you' card. Keep the conversation going.
"Abuse is an issue I can't let pass, Sir. If you know anything about it, I suggest you don't turn a blind eye and tell me the truth," Akari stated, a force of authority slipping in her voice.

Emiko winced even more as Akari replied to the man's insults directed towards Emiko. It saddend her that she is still considered a disgrace for trying to change the constant loop of abuse. She just wanted good for all the Pokemon ion this town. Scrix could tell that Emiko was upset and tensed even more. Emiko was almot praying that Scrix would not attack, because the man would know who she is.
The man smiled and shrugged a little. Emiko could tell that he was thinking of what he could do. Rubbing his head, he said calmly again. "So what we abuse some of our Pokemon? What are you gonna do about it? We made that pest of a girl leave by almost killing her and I'm quiet sad that we didn't in fact kill her. She is worthless anyway. We can do the same to you, Ma'ma! Knights of Arceus maybe already got her."
Scrix was about to attack when he noticed Emiko sawing. Holding on to Scrix arms, her eyes started to roll back. Scrix knew what would happen. Before she collasped Emiko muttered "...Monster.." Growling at the man, Scrix held the now unconscious Emiko.

Akari turned when from out of the corner of her eye she saw Emiko collapse, but luckily the girl's Drapion caught her in time. Shina helped the scorpion support the poor girl's weight with its Psychic powers lessening the burden of the limp body.
It looks like playing safe was over, and Akari would have to take it up a level. Her hand went in one of her pockets. Incidentally, the man was unaware his words were being recorded.
Snapping back to look at the man, her eyes narrowed in seriousness and a disappointed frown was on her face. "Freely admitting your foul deeds like this, I'm not sure whether to call it overconfidence or foolishness in your part." She shook her head exasperatedly. The man probably didn't feel threatened by her at all, with their difference in statures and Akari's current team that was out. Admittedly, Masquerain and Sigilyph were far from the tough-angry type of Pokemon along the vein of a Tyranitar, but like the often-quoted saying, looks CAN be deceiving. And this man was going to find out soon enough that this also applied to the frail-looking woman in front of him. She wasn't Head Ranger for nothing.
The tranquil fury in Akari's voice was probably scarier than if she blew up in rage. But on she went, calmly speaking, "But like I said earlier, abuse of any kind, whether on Pokemon or people, is a serious offense. Punishable by law, to be precise."
"Unfortunately for you, Sir..." Akari's hand in her pocket slowly moved and took out her Ranger badge, the proof of her occupation but not of her high position in the organization. "I am one such person with authority and the power to stop you, and the rest of the citizens like you in this town." Amy flapped close to Akari, ready to protect even without her trainer's command.
The Head Ranger was aware that her words would provoke bad and violent reactions, but she wouldn't do it if she wasn't confident of her ability to handle such situations. Her experience helped with that. Heavy conviction in her tone, Akari stated, "So I suggest you stop what you're doing and give up. It'll be easier that way, I assure you."

The man laughed a little and and put his hand on a Pokeball. He did not really care that the woman in front of him was a Ranger. In his mind he could overpower her easily. "Ah, a Ranger. Well, now you give me no choice to kill both you and your companion who I can tell is that disgrace of a girl.. He smiled as he walked past Akari and bent down next to Emiko.
Taking a look at Akari he started "When Emiko here first saw us 'hurting her friends' we tried to convince her that she just imagined it. Of course we shut her up for a while, but she never truely believed us. Pausing a little, he smiled at Akari. "So, we one night.....we came into her room while her parents were not home. We woke her up and then started to beat her. She screamed and asked us to stop but we wouldn't. I kinda liked it. Then when one of us was about to ram a kinfe down her chest, a little Pokemon chased us away with stupid pins and needdles.
Placing a hand on Emiko's head he said with a even voice "I'll kill you first and then your friend." Laughing he put his hands on Emiko's throat and was about to choke her when a large spike sinks throws him away from her. Scri, would couldn't take it anymore, used Cross Poison on the man.

The man was able to dodge the Cross Poison attack as he backed away, but his triumph was short-lived (a mere second) as he was then blasted off his feet and into a wall of a building by a cold blast of air.
Akari's eyes clearly displayed how furious she was, barely retaining her calm demeanour. "I told you this would be easier without resistance, Sir. I warned you, and you carelessly disregarded my warning, and now I'm sad to say that you're paying for it."
If the man hadn't dismissed Akari as a weak Ranger and gave her at least a sliver of focus, he would have noticed that all this time, Akari's Masquerain wasn't fluttering haphazardly around her. The blue moth was actually doing a Quiver Dance, raising her abilities. So that Icy Wind attack sent at the man was no weak gust of air. Not at all.
Emiko's Scrix was seething in anger at the man, and Akari couldn't blame the Pokemon. But that would leave Emiko more vulnerable without its protection so she turned and called out, "Shina!"Barriers up! And tell Drapion to stay with you beside Emiko, was the unspoken command that passed through Trainer and Pokemon's eyes.
A flicker of light was the only tell-tale sign that Sigilyph cast Reflect and Light Screen before it turned to the scorpion and delivered Akari's message in Pokemon talk.
Akari readied herself with a grim determination when the man got up, obviously enraged. Rigon had already called for the HQ. In ten minutes, the Rangers on quick Pokemon fliers or rides would get here. She'd just have to hold on until then. There was no telling what a crazed man will do, but Akari wasn't giving up. This was another test at her abilities.

The large Scropion glared at man who was slowly getting up from the attack Akari's Pokemon used on him. Emiko's Pokemon wanted to so badly grab the man by his head and rip him apart. He was about to jump on the boy and kill him when Shina told him to protect Emiko. Scrix sigh to himself and stood in front of Emiko who was slowly stirring. Scrix glanced at Emiko and focused on the man.
The man rubbed his head and smiled "Well, you gave me no choice then. Krookodile, go!" The man sent out the Krookodile and it smiled at Akari's Pokemon. The man waived his hand and the Pokemon attacked not Akari's Pokemon, but Akari herself. "Fighting fair is for whimps". The Krookodile was about to strike Akari when something interferd.
Emiko had waken up and called out her Sharpedo to stop the man's Pokemon with Ice Fang. Emiko was still laying on the ground but the Sharpedo had sunken his teeth in the Krookodile's arm. "Xero, I-ice f-fang

Akari had been preparing to take on the Krookodile, having an inkling that it might attack her instead based on the trainer's attitude, but she certainly didn't expect that Sharpedo to come out of nowhere and attack, saving her in the process.
"Miss Emiko!" The Ranger turned worriedly, but the Krookodile managed to tear itself away from the shark's fangs. But Amy swooped in to help by using the melted ice from its Icy Wind attack earlier for a Scald attack, sending a hot wave of water at the ground reptile.
Torn between rushing to Emiko's side to check if she really was all right but by doing so would make them more susceptible as targets together, Akari gritted her teeth and got her mind focused as much as she could on both situations: the battle and Emiko's condition.
Emiko could'nt really tell what was happening around her but one thing she could tell, they are being attacked. Gazing at the Kroodile, she saw her Pokemon helping Akari's Pokemon. Crawling Forward, she tried to reach her Drapion which was trying to redirect attacks away from Akari and his Trainer.
The big sharp keept on bitting the Krookodile, paying only Attention to causing harm to the foe. The man was a little shocked had one last plan. He thinks he could still get away if he hurts the girl that he wanted dead for a long time.
"Krookodile! Use Mud Slap! The Krookodile used a small opening and sent the attack towards the girl lying on the ground. Scrix shocked tried to block the attack but part of it went through and hit Emiko in the chest.
Crying out in pain, Emiko held her side as faint traces of blood gushed out of it.

Akari was horrified and shocked at the attack on Emiko, and in this still moment of her guard down, the man took his chance to attack her instead.
The female Ranger was on the ground, covered in mud and wincing at her injuries. But sheer determination and fury got her back up, narrowing her eyes angrily at the man.
"This is enough!" She yelled before taking out another ball.
At the same time her Masquerain delivered a furious full-force Bug Buzz on Krookodile, the newly-sent-out Braviary pinned the man to a wall with its talons.
The man's eyes grew wide and he almost froze on the spot. The man's Pokemon was defeated, and he was pinned on the wall. He simply was out of options. Taking a deep breath, he started to talk "Fine, we did abuse Pokemon. We only did it so those Knight People wouldn't hurt us! Only that brat over there got in the way!"
Scrix sighed and stood up again. Looking for Emiko, he slowly picked her up from the ground. Emiko was pale as ever but still had a faint smile on his face. Coughing slightly, she whimpered softly and whispered "I-I'm O-okay, i-it doesn't h-hurt so bad."

Akari gasped for breath for a couple of moments, but she was still panting as she spoke quietly, "I see... If that's the case, why didn't you... ask for help from us Rangers?" She looked sadly at the man, still a little unsteady on her feet.
Braviary let go of the man, and he slumped down to the ground. The bird returned to Akari's side and nuzzled her hair worriedly. She gave it a gentle pat of reassurance. As she turned her gaze to the sky, her eyes were able to make out the approaching forms of several flyers. Her back-up would be arriving in a couple of minutes.
She turned back to the man. "I'm sorry about this. I swear on my pride and capability as the Johto Head Ranger that this town will be protected from the Knights. Both the people and Pokemon. So please, cease the abuse and violence," she declared sincerely and firmly.
The Ranger then sent out her Sawsbuck, the deer giving her a little support. With a brief smile at the Pokemon, she nudged it to go to Emiko. The deer trotted over to the teen, stopping in front of her. Kaji the Sawsbuck then bowed his head and shook his antlers. Glittery powder and a pleasant scent wrapped around Emiko, the Aromatherapy soothing her wounds.

The man smirked at first but eventually came round. He rubbed his eyes and said flatly "Okay...thank you....a few people were feeling uncomfortable about this anyway. The Man took out his phone and talked to who knows what. Sighing, he hung up and added finally "Cleared it up with the mayor and it won't happen again."
Meanwhile, Emiko groaned a little as the Aromatherapy was used on her wound. Slowly shifting, so she would face Akari. Smiling faintly, Emiko whispered "T-thank you...Minamoto...thank you very much....finally I have peace about this.. Calling her Sharpedo back into his Pokeball, she moved a little more in her Drappion's arms. Slowly feeling better Emiko added as a after thought "Rangers always been my idols"

Akari gave a relieved sigh. The other Rangers finally arrived, and Staraptor and Pidgeot rides began landing on the muddy street. She nodded at the man before turning to talk to the Rangers, but not before sending a small smile at Emiko.
The Knights of Arceus were hurting so many lives, and even their influence could damage a kind teenage girl like Emiko. With renewed determination, Akari vowed to stop them with all she had.
